I wouldn't care if a Jazz player thought the earth were flat, chose to sit during the national anthem or IS a bigot. A lot of players have political, racial, moral, ethical or gender attitudes that don't coincide with mine. Last I checked, we have freedom of thought. They're being hired to put a round ball in a cylinder, not represent me in Congress.
Can Bogut ball or can't he? Would he be a good teammate or not? Does he fit on the current roster? Those are the questions.
And to those - and only to those issues - I don't see him as a good fit. I question whether he has anything left in the tank. Udoh is a better backup at the 5 at this point.

Are you saying these are reasons you don't like him or are you also saying this is justification for the earlier charge of bigotry? If the latter, it would certainly have to be a more liberal (no pun intended) criteria that would also encompass your views of him as qualifying for the description, as well.

After reading that article, I'm not sure I understand why folks call him racist, bigoted or even far-right. Politically, he speaks out against Trump but also says Hillary appears to be shady. Wow, I'm shocked! I think that's why Trump won...barely. Huge vomit factor with Trump looking like the lesser of the two evils at the time.
And he speaks out about the bling bling culture in the NBA. That makes him racist? To say he doesn't want his children to "be brought up in an environment like that, where if you have money you’re supposed to flaunt it and make everyone jealous.” Now that's a misrepresentation of all NBA players. But there certainly is a large population of players who like their fancy cars, clubbing and "bling." It's their money and their choice. And it's Bogut's right to say he doesn't agree with that lifestyle. That doesn't make him racist or a bigot.

He does follow some massive d-bags though. He may be a nice guy, but he doesn't seem to be embarrassed by associating with idiots. He has also trashed America a bit, and as Americans we reserve the right to trash our country, and resent it when foreigners point out how ****ed up we are.
I agree with most of this, but Kyrie Irving being a flat-Earther is one of my pet peeves (I'll post it in that thread too). These guys kind of have a little responsibility to be "role models" and stuff like Kyrie being the reason middle schoolers thinks the Earth is flat bugs me.

I just think you are wrong about Bogues' potential moving forward. He was still a top 5 defensive player (according to DRPM) last year.

Read the interview. Sounds like a guy who thinks independently and is smart -- didn't pick up any bigotry from his comments.
The sad irony is everyone that is bitching about signing Bogut now will love him if he signs with the Jazz and provides leadership and toughness off the bench. Its all speculation anyway, man the off season really sucks. Two weeks until we have some actual basketball to speculate on.

The bigotry is that he chooses to follow the twitter accounts of some right wing conservatives. It's guilt by association. And he dislikes hip hop and flaunting his wealth by wearing expensive shiny jewelry. I doubt he's ever made it rain in a strip club, either. Therefore he's racist. Ban him from the NBA. Take away his visa. He should be prohibited for life from ever stepping foot in the US of thought police.
