Utah Jazz @ Indiana Pacers 2/24 5:30PM MST

The Pacers are one of hte worst rebounding teams in the league, so dont get too excited. They have no PF's and slow C's who arent rebound minded.

Please delete your account. It's you that has been pwned, Mr. Rex.

Jazz had a block party in that 1st quarter. I agree completely with Harpring; it was the best the Jazz has played defense this season. But what in the F is Elson doing? He singlehandedly kept the Pacers in the game. Now that we have Favors, just waive him. Derrick is the future; he needs to get 20+ mins/per. Elson needs to retire and head back to the Netherlands.

Very encouraged by the game Harris had, although Collison blew by him a couple of times. If the Jazz can just keep going inside...sometimes the team gets a "CJ-mentality" and just fires up jumpers. Just hope Favors' development is as impressive as Hibbert's. He was pretty good in the 1st quarter for Indiana. Jazz did a better job on him the 2nd half. Ty is not afraid to double the best opposing players; I like that change. But Jazz clearly still need a wing that can shoot - CJ, Raja and Hayward were terrible (well, outside of that drive and dunk by Hayward).

Can't believe how well Harris played for someone who clearly knows little about the Jazz system. It never felt like he had a plan on any of the offensive possessions, and yet, he was able to create something almost every time. Another thing I noticed was that everyone was playing with energy. I think that's directly linked to D-Will's absence. Don't get me wrong, Williams is an amazing player. But he often walks down the court, and expects to have complete control over the flow of the game. It is fine when he's playing well, but when he's not, the team stagnates and loses.

Favors looked good. He's young and, perhaps, unexceptional. But he doesn't look nearly as goofy as Fes, he plays smart, and he plays hard.

If the Jazz manage to add a quality wing, this team can be special.

We need Hayward to grow up fast. He has the makings of a good wing with 15 pounds of muscle.

CJ Miles is a homeless man's J.R. Smith at this point. What the hell happened to him? He actually played well last year's playoffs. He's regressed massively since then.

His stats are something special, don't think I've ever seen anything like this before:

07-08 .479 FG% .390 3pt%
08-08 .459 FG% .352 3pt%
09-10 .429 FG% .341 3pt%
10-11 .407 FG% .332 3pt%

This is like what happens when you give someone an F potential on NBA 2k11.

Call up the mathmeticians. That's an example of a perfect regression model; those are rare, indeed.

One thing I noticed is the Jazz looked relaxed and loose.

Chemistry seemed really good, especially for having 2 new guys.

Chemistry matters, it showed tonite.

High fives and smiles all around, everyone jumping up and down. Chemistry does matter. I'm looking forward to the rest of teh season although boston on monday could be ugly....

I'm trying to temper my excitement after this win, but it's hard. The Pacers are pathetic. If anything this is great for confidence because we aren't close to a finished product. Can't wait until Devo gets comfortable with the offense and his teammates.

Lets shock the f-ing world!!! Go Jazz!!!

I know it is just one game, but as I said in my previous thread:

No gloom and doom here

"For all those haters of the trade out there, think about this; Jazz got rid of an attitude problem for the 3rd pick in the 2010 draft (Favors), a former all-star point guard, more cash, a deeper bench, and draft picks for the future! I say great deal!

The Jazz just got more got more chips to do trades with now, with 2 extra draft picks and with Favors, Millsap and Jefferson at power forward. Put anyone of the 3 power forwards with one of the draft picks and you should be able to get a good/great shooting guard, which the Jazz desperately need. I would keep the size and trade Millsap., with Millsap you might not need to include a draft pick.

Keep the Nets pick for the coming draft and get a defensive center. Bring Ante Tomic over next season and you have the draft pick center, Tomic and Fes (if we resign him) to man the center position. You have Jefferson and Favors at power forward. We complain constantly about not having the size to match up against the Lakers, and now we would have the size, with a 7 ft. 2 in. center in Tomic, the drafted center and Fes to go along with two 6 ft. 10 in. power forwards (Favors has a 7 ft. 3 in wing span).

With the new shooting guard we trade for with Millsap, our 2 rookies this year developing and all these new bigs, we should be in good shape to compete next year for the division title. And as the team learns to play with each other over the next 2 or 3 years, in my opinion, a top 3 team in the West capable of competing for a championship in the future. So the heck with the doom and gloom bunch on here, I like the direction we are heading. Ok hit me with your best shot."

Welcome to the first chapter of the new Jazz. This is just the start.!!!!!! Now whoever took my 5 reps away please give me some back.

Nice line from Al tonight:

30 points (16 in the 4th)
9 boards
5 blocks
2 steals

Even had 3 dimes.

Yep. And besides, we haven't won in how long? Jeez, people have a hard time having fun when there's fun to be had.

No kidding. What a bunch of sobbing bitches there are here. The Jazz get a quality win on the road and they still whine and piss and moan.

I'm not getting this "Pacers are pathetic" talk. Yeah, they're not elite, but they were 16-12 at home and were 8-3 this month. It was a decent win by the Jazz tonight.

Also, they were 9-3 under Vogel (now 9-4) after starting 17-28 under O'Brien.

I posted those stats sometime back when some CJ homers here were saying that Sloan should play him more mins. The mins are missing here. If you include the mins as well it will be gradually increasing over the last 4 years.

You just plot those numbers, it will be a perfect trendline. More mins, less FG%

Brilliant! More mins=>license to jack=>worse shot selection=>worse fg%.

There are a handful of posters here who just aren't happy unless there's something to bitch about.

Agree, I would give Hayward more of Bell's minutes and let him start in place of Bell.

I agree. Bell is completely worthless at this point. Stick his butt at the end of the bench. I would start Hayward. It should help his development. Gordon actually does have a pretty good outside shot and he plays decent defense. Give all of Bell's minutes to Jeremy Evans (who didn't play tonight for some reason). I would go with this depth chart for the rest of the season:

PG: Devin Harris, Earl Watson, Ronnie Price
SG: Gordon Hayward, C.J. Miles, Raja Bell
SF: Andrei Kirilenko, Jeremy Evans
PF: Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors, Francisco Elson
C: Al Jefferson, Mehmet Okur (if he ever gets healthy), Kyrylo Fesenko

Told ya.

2 years from now, we're going to be laughing at the steal we just made. Devin Harris and his speed is going to be incredible in the Jazz system. Favors is going to be special. And we still have 2 more picks to make moves with.

NJ meanwhile is going to be lebroned by Duron.

Those people who whined and whined about this trade are going to look like complete dumbasses soon.
