What's new

Utah Jazz @ Miami Heat - 11/12/15 - 5:30pm ROOT

Favors 40 minutes, Hayward 38 minutes, Hood 38 minutes, Burks 35 minutes.
Our dudes might be tired tomorrow but im still happy that quin said **** it and went for the win.
All of those guys are very young and should be ok to go another 35+ imo

He's showing me plenty for his 2nd year after an injury full rookie season. You say he looks good in off the dribble shots but bad in catch and shoot shots. I'd be more concerned it was the other way around. He'll get his rythm, and he's definitely not been absent like Dala states. Kinda ridiculous...

For what we need him to be, he has been absent.

He started over Burks for a reason, and it's not because he is better off-the-dribble. I'm not asking the world from him, just hit above 35% on open catch and shoot situations. The only 3 he made today was on a dribble down iso over Bosh, and it was very contested.

KD's Framily must have not watched Jazz last year.

Hayward scoring well in isolation situations does not mean that he shot 50% on fadeaway contested jumpers. Dribbling out the shot clock and then taking a contested fadeaway is not a good possession. I don't know why you keep pretending to be stupid.

I agree.
Hoods shot will come around. When it does he might just be more dangerous than burks or hayward scoring the ball.
I had no idea he could put it on the floor so well, hit that sweet pull up mid-range shot, and even showed off a running hook shot tonight

If that's true then our role players are going to start falling of the back end of the treadmill before this team becomes competitive. So we'll have our "alpha" and bitch that he doesn't have enough supporting cast. Then he'll be gone and we'll start over.

If this team, minus minor roster adjustments, isn't THE team we need then we're another full rebuild away.

I'm the 1st that wished I was wrong trust me...

He is suppose to be our 3 point threat and he is sub 25% for the season now and seems to be more interested in being an off the bounce iso threat.

If Hayward is missing mid-range Js, why no leash for Hood too?

I think those shoots will eventually fall for Gordon. He usually starts the season a bit cold. Same goes for Hood and his 3pt. I wonder what the coaching staff is asking Hood to do, perhaps they want him to dribble and use his mid-range more since his 3pt shoot is not falling

Jazz are without their best player, shoot 38% and only have 6 players score...and are still in the game.

Man the moral victories are adding up this year.

You didnt watch Jazz last year. People here where overjoyed with Hayward and his step-back and fadeaway jumpers. People where beyond excited as he hit these shots and where elated that he found a "go-to move". Then, he misses a step back jumper (barely) that was contested and you freak out? You must not have watched the games last year.

Prolly cuz Hayward scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and didn't get burned constantly on defense by Tyler Johnson.

I still think Hayward really got hurt on that takedown in the Portland preseason game and hasn't looked the same since. Hopefully he'll pick up the percentages but he's playing fine. He's also consistently getting completely mauled for fewer free throws than i can remember with a good player for a long time.

We really need Hood to be hitting threes. If he and Burks are hitting from outside it would make our offense soooo much better.

I really don't know why Withey isn't playing. I would much rather he have Lyles and come to think of it a bunch of Booker's minutes atm.

PG still really hurts us. Neto can't keep playing much and Trey looked like what he probably is .. a short limited point guard who needs open shots to shoot at a high clip.

Basically we have too many passengers at the moment, but that is what is going to happen with developing players. Still looks good for a year or two down the road.

I knew we would have lost the game in this way. The Heat played an ugly game but they still managed to win it.

We could have been up by 10 going into the 4th quarter.

I just looked it up on nbasavant.com. On fadeaway jump shots from less than 8 feet away and the defender less than a foot away, Hayward shot 23.9% last season.

Can we put this nonsense to bed now? Just because Hayward made a couple fadeaway contested shots down the stretch last year does not mean it's a good shot. Unless you think dribbling out the shot clock for the sake of taking a shot with 23.9% rate of success is a good possession.

Hayward had some good stats, but he didn't deliver down the stretch (again). He deserves some criticism for that--it comes with being the supposed star of the team. Pretty sure Hayward has only made 1 total FG in the 4th quarters against Cleveland and Miami. Saying that that's disappointing is perfectly justified.

Burks continues to look really good. He's driving, dishing, making 3s. Dude is fearless and under control. I'm impressed. Hood on the other hand still can't find his outside shot and is trying to do too much; he disrupts the offense at times. Trey Burke used to do the same thing, but it looks like he's figured out how to defer, play within the offense, and take set shots. Hood needs to develop in the same way and then he'll thrive. For now, Quin should really consider giving the starting 2 spot to Burks, even though he's worked really well with Trey off the bench.
Neto, Lyles, Booker, and company simply aren't good enough to be getting the minutes that they are. It's impressive that we're performing as well as we are with these guys getting key minutes.

Hope Gobert is good to go tomorrow. Favors is incredible, but it's both of them working together that makes our defense elite, which is our entire team identity.

The future is bright, we just need a few more bench pieces and further internal development.

Anytime Booker and Lyles are on the court together it really kills us. The last two games have been nail biters. You have to think we are giving the opposing team too many free points by playing these dumb lineups that might be costing us the game.

I'm 100% for giving Lyles minutes, but never play him with Booker. Never play Lyles as the center with Joe Ingles/Rodney Hood at PF. These things arent conductive to the team playing well or developing Lyles. I thought Lyles looked alright the minutes he played with Favors.

So no accountability for Hayward eh? He is is been good for us and he should be taking those shoots. However I perceive he is creating less for his teammates and haven't been effective in the 4Q. We need him to be raise his game in close situations. I trust in him and eventually his shots will start falling.

You are overreacting with Hood. It's been a few games. His 3pt sucks right now but he is showing that he is still a decent scorer with a smooth mid-range game.

This was another character builder. I hate moral victories, still, this had at-least a few.

Favors had Whiteside feeling some type of way at the end of that first half. That was one of the best games I've ever seen him play, easily. I couldn't help but wonder if practicing against Rudy had him prepped for Whiteside. Was a terrific display of body control. He's obviously gotten better every season..

Between Neto and Burks, Dragic looked uncomfortable thru a good bit of the game..

Tyler Johnson saved them, simple and plain, or the game was in hand..

Was definitely (hopefully) a night to build on for Hayward, and Favors & Burks kept it rolling in a major way.. I liked how Hayward started the game going to the basket drawing fouls, wish he'd do that a bit more often.

I thought Trey did slightly too much dribbling tonight, he did get to the basket a few times, still not the best showing.

Alec Burks is now shooting 63% from 3:cool:.. (and Rodney's shooting 24%)
