What's new

Utah Jazz sign second-round pick Joel Bolomboy

Everything you wrote about the off season moves are spot on BTW... You nailed it. People here wont believe it Teague is better then Hill and NBA people know this, but yet Jazz fans do not

Diaw is past his prime. Not only past it but way past it

JJ is another who is past his prime and even in his good days was a chucker like you mention
But that's okay cuz Jazz fans truly think they are a top 5 seed in the WESt. For this I laugh really hard

Wouldnt even want Joe Johnson 7 years ago. Not sure how getting him now is somehow good. Especially considering he is a ball stopper and we have a coach that promotes moving the ball. Cant wait to watch 36 year old Joe Johnson drain the clock, iso, chuck, repeat.

Didnt even get the best point guard in the trade. Teague is better than Hill. Hill isnt that good, and he is just getting on the wrong side of 30. 1 year rental. Wasted a 12th pick.

Diaw, another dude past him prime. Not that good. Just a Spurs dude who played decent for them. Now they dont want him.

So lets see. Johnson, Diaw, and Hill, all olders players not wanted by their team. So we scoop them up just to say we did something. Ill be shocked if all 3 of those guys arent written off by mid season .

We are essentially the same team hoping for some breaks this year, and pretending the old dudes are gonna coach the guys up while they play.

How may late round picks really work out? Not much so Yes we do know most of the time what these late draft picks are. Sometimes you get lucky but most of the time not. Go look a the facts that back that statement up

I think this is pretty good news. He'll be able to bring anything Pliess could bring and is young. You never know what you'll get with these late draft picks.

I like Bolomboy more than Pleiss. I am sure he costs less as well. Bolomboy starts to replace some Booker like toughness and athleticism. Pleiss' long lost cousin is the Lockness monster -our underwater allie Nessy. He disappears for long stretches. He sounds cool, but at the end of the day he is just a big fish that doesn't do anything. I say we dump the mythical creature for something we can all see making a difference in a game or two.

I cannot WAIT for the league to see the juggernaut we are building here. We are going to shore up that 14th spot if it kills us, and at bargain basement prices! Hell we might get the 15th spot even.

Wow what a disappointing and terribly managed off-season this has been. Ugh.

Name 5 teams with a better offseason

I agree with his nasty toughness. Hope he can do it against real NBA players.

A side note: you can compare apples to oranges like teague to hill, but I find that as useful as... Well not useful at all. Are you not taking into account Quinn? He does amazing things with players, as long as they understand their roll they definitely excel.

Take into consideration the way the league runs. This off season was prime for the jazz. To say it was a failure because we didn't acquire kd, LBJ, or another star just portrays me to think you're an idiot.

I would welcome a star though, as long as it complimented our game plans.

Let's hear your prediction then. 50 wine? Let's just say 50 is the over/under. Either way nothing we added is doing anything to push is into the next tier let alone into contention. Mediocrity yet again. I'd rather hear we shot for something to really change the game and missed than to add 3 players on the edge of being washed up and calling it a "success". Danny Ainge had a similar decision to make a few years back and took a chance and ended up with the ring when he could have ended up with egg on his face. We would rather just have nicely powdered noses and talk about how exciting it's going to be to squeak into the 8th seed maybe, after a season of "we could be 1-4" delusion of course.

Good move in my opinion.

That means Pleiss or Withey will be moving on shortly just as I posted around a month ago and certain people said that there was no way that would happen...

It's kind of cute how you keep trying to spin the optimism as Jazz fans just being delusional, as if most national sports media people aren't also predicting the Jazz to fight for a top 5 seed.

You're asking a casual Jazz fan to talk about the NBA?

Ok super NBA pro, pull out the stats and tell me the exact number of wins we will have next season based on our new additions. What is our offensive and defensive efficiency and such going to be? And where will the miller's display the championship trophy?

I for one am tired of constant mediocrity. Unfortunately to break out of it we need to either bomb so hard we get a top 3 pick or we have to try for some big moves in the offseason. But what I see coming is another pick in the low to mid teens. So break out your god-like basketball knowledge and predict the future for us with our new guaranteed all-stars.

Or STFU and GTFO.

Hi. Teague is better than Hill but we got Hill because that's what was available and Hill's good.

Don't need a prime Diaw or Johnson. Just a good Diaw and Johnson.

Maybe go get a new hobby?

*Teague is not better than Hill when you consider the complete game (both sides of the ball). Hill's offense is underrated.

*It is highly conceivable that we could have had Teague. But, his former coach (Quin) wanted Hill.

Lol.

You should stick to not commenting on basketball. But don't take my opinion, just ask any respected NBA columnist. Zach Lowe, Nate Duncan, those guys. When ALL of them thing the Jazz did very well, and you think the Jazz didn't, then you're probably wrong.

But you're on. 50 wins, give or take two games. Bet money, avatar, name change, I don't care what. Let's do it.

All of this.

er, so you couldnt name 5 teams I see.

I'd be ****ing furious if we chose Teague instead of Hill. Eww.

I like Bolomboy a lot. The Jazz just need to be patient. He's very raw, but has some tools for coach Q to work with. He should spend time in the DLeague this year and maybe next.

As for the hill vs Teague debate. I don't think anyone is saying hill is better, though I'm not sure Teague is better either. But, Hill better fits the makeup of our team. Both Hayward and hood need the ball and generally set up and run the offense. Hill is better playing off the ball and is very good defensively. Also, hill has more versatility, being able to switch from the 1 or 2, and is a better shooter and Hill allows for Exum to get more time. Think he will be much improved. If Exum surprises this year, it's a much smoother transition to move Hill to the bench. I'm not sure Teague would except that kind of role change.

I don't see what people see in Teague that makes him so special. Dude over achieved a couple years ago, but showed who he truly was last year. He's average. Dime a dozen. Decent pg skills with limited defense. Hill brings more to the table, above average shooter and defender, can start or come off the bench, play off the ball, and multiple positions.

Teague might be the better player on Indiana, but Hill is probably the better player on the Jazz.
