Here it is jazzfanz, the return of Utah Jazz Survivor.

The game is pretty simple. Each round you will vote one player off the team. This will help determine who jazzfanz considers to be the Jazz' best assets.

Things to consider:

Length and terms of contract, player's potential, player's trade value.

For example, Big Al might be a better NBA player than Enes Kanter at this moment, but who is more valuable to the Jazz as an asset?

mo's the easy choice here. it's our fringe-allstar current best player, the core of 4 young sexy beasts, and mo. he's easily the odd man out. i would've booted him before marvin.

I agree on Mo beign the obvious choice here. Him and Marvin were a toss up but they both deserved to go this choice and last choice.

I'm excited about what Kanter will become but right now he would not get the Jazz a lot in return. He would have to be an added piece with someone (or something) else in order to get something of real value back.

This round is Kanter for me.

GM's aren't dumb, they know the kind of potential Kanter has. I GUARANTEE you teams would be willing to give up more for Kanter than for Mo. Look at the paydays Humphries and Hibbert got this summer; teams are desperate for bigs.

And if you're honestly excited about what Kanter can become, then I really don't know how you could vote him off before the likes of Mo.

Not true. Mo Williams was traded for the #1 pick in the draft just two years ago. Lotta people forget that.

Yeah, but the Clippers got rid of an injury-prone Baron Davis and snagged CP3 later on. CP3>Irving for at least a couple more years.

exaggeration. he was traded for a future draft pick, only that that clippers weren't smart enough to protect that pick. they only had a 2.8% chance at the top pick.

so it would be more accurate to say that mo was traded WITH jamario moon and the obligation of paying baron davis... for a 2.8% chance at a #1 pick.

but that aside, the real telling point is that we got mo for free because dallas didn't even want him in exchange for LO despite having struck out on several point guards. that alone should tell us that mo's value isn't that high.

at the point the clippers traded that pick, they were pretty much locked into the 7-11 range. then the cavs got extremely lucky -- as in, 28 chances out of 1,000 lucky -- and suddenly they had traded mo for a top pick.

I don't need to vote in this one. BTW, within a couple years at most, I think people are going to be comparing Burks to Harden.

Dallas was trying to CLEAR cap space to make room for Deron Williams. The Mo Williams deal was FINALIZED on June 30th, but agreed to several days earlier. Deron Williams made his final decision on July 3rd, shunning his hometown team for the Nets. Had the situation been reversed (i.e. Deron telling the Mavs he would be signing with NJ) PRIOR to the trade, Dallas could have very well opted to take back Mo. Then again, their secondary target was Nash. And they struck out on Steve AFTER the Mo trade was done.

Sorry, Nerd, I usually agree with your points. But on this one, I think you're very biased. To say Mo's value isn't very high because Dallas didn't want to take back his salary on June 30th is simply wrong. Dallas thought they had a good chance at landing Deron. He was deciding between the Mavs and New Jersey. Of course Dallas wanted to shed salary by dumping Odom. They were positioning themselves to give the MAX to Deron. And KOC wanted Mo. Other teams may have wanted Mo as well, but we had the best offer - i.e. the ability to absorb his salary and not have to give back any players in return.
