Utah legalizes gambling for righteous activity

No gambling, no lottery for Utah schools, but you can now bet up to $1000 dollars for the chance to win a trophy hunt because hunting is ****in righteous yo!

Why is the DWR partnering with this private concern in the first place? Teh Utah republican brand of free market it rocks eh?

It's awesome this great state that definitely does not sponsor government being in business is sending me postcard advertisements to this hunting expo or is providing my information to a private company so they can mail the advertisements out themselves.

This has the stink of our greasy republican legislature all over it.

Ah, it's only DWR. They haven't got enough deer or elk anymore for all the hunters to do the fall drunk in the pinyons festival. Not because the hunters actually bag their prey, but because they stopped letting a few crazy pilot/marksman pairs fly around shooting coyotes for their day job. The coyotes are a plague, and we're out of rabbits, too.

I thought this was something new with this legislative session, say like letting schools send kids home with lottery tickets for sale to their parents and neighbors to raise revenue for playground equipment. Not books, mind you. funzies stuff.

What does that even mean? You put $1000 down in hopes that you're chosen to hunt a specific animal and then if you don't get chosen you lose your cash? I've never been hunting or to Wendover.

Top notch private hunts are fairly pricey, and the ones offered in the lottery are an attractive bet, with a real statistical benefit to those who enter the drawing. A few bets at that rate will likely get you a good deal. The participating hosts get some benefits as well, and it's good public relations for their hunt business.

Are you talking about the expo tags? This is nothing new.

The drawing, auction, and show was expected to bring in roughly $10mill that goes directly into Utah wildlife conservation.

And where did I say it wasn't? I said it was nothing new, and it has been going on for years. How about you simply read my post.
