What's new

Utah @ San Diego State

I think it's time to put the TCU debacle and the hangover at Notre Dame behind us. SD state isn't the pushover that we've used to seeing, so we need to get back to playing Utah football. Jordan Wynn is starting and must win the fans back before the BYU game, otherwise Cain should get the nod.

I'm very intrigued by this game. Three weeks ago, I would have said Utah would go in and roll them. I would have still said that if they would have taken care of business at ND. Now, I think there's a very good chance Utah comes away with their third straight loss.

I said a few months ago that I thought San Diego State was a better football team than Utah and the usual suspects flipped out. I'll still go with that and the fact they are at home(which probably doesn't mean much considering their home field advantage is negligible but the weather should be nice). SDSU 35 Utah 24.

I actually agree with this, word for word, minus "very good".

Not too be negative but I assume they will lose (and next week as well) until they prove or show me other wise. Not to dismiss SD as they are getting stronger (like the U does except for this season) as the season goes on and has been playing well this season for the most part but in my bias opinion if both teams play their best games the U should win but again the way the U is playing whatever "it" is they've lost it as a team, the seniors and coaches better hope they can regain it.

Also if Cain didn't see time in the last 2 games baring injury I wouldn't expect to see him, I think coach Whitt's thinking is more long term forward thinking not just this year and winning games. Cain is a SR and is gone after this year and I think he just hopes to let Wynn feel what this is like as a growing up process but that is just IMO.

TCU was a much better team and showed it. The Notre Dame game was a TCU hangover. This week, we'll see who the Utes really are, good or bad.

I think this is simply a Ute fan trying to talk himself down from the ledge after the last 2 losses. I know, because I've been doing it myself.

Something is wrong with Utah. The last 2 weeks they've looked no better than New Mexico- seriously, that's not an exaggeration. While they're certainly not as good as us Ute fans thought they were, I think it's more than fair to say that they're also much better talent-wise than what we've seen in the last two weeks.

Somewhere the wheels have come off mentally and Whitt better get his *** in gear and fix it because finishing up with a 4 game losing streak- including a loss to a BYU squad that can't win @Utah State is NOT going to be acceptable, and as we sit today it's a very real possibility.

Yeah in fact they are actually favored.

Utah's favored -2.5 to -3 from what i can see....

Boise's favored -30 over Fresno!? Bulldogs looked decent last week, although the game is at Boise. Wonder what the line will be when they face Nevada on the road

Utah seemed to move the ball well against ND but they couldn't come up with the big play when needed or they just had a stupid penalty to push them back. If they don't commit those penalties this week they should win this game and get back on track.

Well, I was waiting for Calijazz to come in this topic and tell everyone that Fresno would cover easily to confirm my thoughts that that was an easy spread, but since that's not happening, I pulled the trigger on Fresno covering anyway this morning. Boise State can't beat everyone by 30.

Post game edit: Fresno didn't even score on them. I'll be sending Calijazz the bill for my gambling debts.

Post game re-edit: I guess there is still 8 minutes to go. ESPN.com lied to me.

Weird. I could have sworn I heard them telling Wynn during an interview that SDSU was favored and he was surprised. Maybe the line shifted or was just reported wrongly.

Yes it was reported erroneously, I forget which radio station mentioned it (it was either Kall700 or 1320) but basically that person didn't check their source close enough as he read it online posted from a local BYU writer who read the line wrong (didn't understand the + vs -).

Ok so I am not going insane :)

Jordan Wynn struggles under pressure. TCU exposed that in epic fashion.

Can SDSU bring the pressure like TCU did? I doubt it.

The Notre Dame game was a fluke. It was hangover from the TCU game, and it was also horrible weather. Those things combined to be a total meltdown.

The hangover caused a bunch of penalties and stupid mistakes. The weather caused some bad throws by Wynn, and possibly another fumble on a kickoff.

Great weather in San Diego, and it's Wynn's hometown. Look for the Utes to roll.

I hope you are right Salty, I think it's important Wynn starts well to get him out of this funk, otherwise it could be a long night

Boise won 51-0, their defense might be even better than last year

Getting blown out is never a fluke. Losing by a touchdown or a point or something close is a fluke. Never use the word fluke to describe 28-3 blowout.

If they played 10 times, this doesn't happen again. It can only be called a fluke.

The Utes drove to the red zone and couldn't get into the end zone, several times. You won't see the Utes get 10 penalties in the first half, or multiple failed 4th down conversions, for the rest of the season. Seeing them both in the same game is a fluke.

If you consider rain great weather. Apparently the Ute's don't because as of now they have already given up 20 points and don't look like they could stop a baby from escaping a crib.

Bailed out by a horrible playcall. Right before the interception was thrown I told my dad that if San Diego didn't turn the ball over they'd win.

They were getting 10-15 yards a pass competition and were on the march. Instead, they got greedy and tried the deep ball. Dumb. Even if it's completed for a touchdown they would have left 1:30 for Utah to score.

Next weekend is going to be great!
