Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Maybe or maybe not. Favs may be way cheaper than people think and Boogie may get a huge offer. With this injury it is generally a two year injury and I can’t remember a guy his size coming back from this. Not that it’s a career ending injury but dude relies on his size and speed which puts stress on everything.

I could see a scenario where he does not come back to NO because they aren’t willing to give the max and someone else is. The timing of this injury may cost him the better part of next year. They are on the clock with AD... no playoffs this year or next may force their hand.

Pretty ****** deal for them... I honestly feel bad. Being in Sac I’ve heard a bunch of stories about how Cousins is a dick but also seen some cool stuff he’s done. He’s a complicated dude but seems to be maturing and figuring things out... I also like that AD wants to stay in NO and win there... circumstances may cause that to change.
Except for the fact that neither Favs nor Davis want to play the 5.

Boogie has played 95% of his minutes at C this year.

Not that i want Boogie but the pelicans dont have gobert on their team so the point you made is kinda moot.
With davis boogie would be the obvious choice for center. With a lineup with gobert in it things change. I dont think gobert makes a very good stretch 4.

Would anybody be okay trading Burks for Al Jefferson? Al has a nonguaranteed contract for next year. Honestly, I would be okay waiving him immediately to open a roster spot. Indy plays Al 14 mpg right now. And in the playoffs, Al is pretty worthless. Burks might do all right there. Low risk for Indy.

Burks will have more trade value as an expiring contract next year

Starting lineup I want to see:

Gobert
Mirotic
Ingles
Fournier
Mitchell

I don’t care how it gets done.
I really think that would go very, very well.

It's a buyer's market. The time to strike might just be now on certain deals. I'm not sure Mirotic has to happen right now, but I think Fournier might.

Hill, Dudley, and/or Skal are maybe in play too?

Well Cousins went down for the year with a torn achilles. Favors would be a nice pickup for the Pelicans. Too bad they have no expiring contracts to match up with Favors. Asik + Jackson for Favors is the only thing that really makes sense and I don't know if the Jazz want Jackson bad enough to take on the last year of his (Asik's) contract in 2018 then the 3 million guaranteed in 2019. Maybe the Pelicans would do Favors + Hood for Jackson/Asik/1st round pick? Could the Jazz do better tho? IDK.
Yeah, that was my initial thought too. It would depend on how much we like Jackson I guess.

Tony Jones is railing people on twitter for suggesting any deals involving Asik. For example Jackson, Asik, and an unprotected 1st. He even said that he's very high on Jackson. Do you think he's unaware that Asik is only guaranteed 3mil after next season, or is he hinting that the Jazz want to have a lot of room for the 2018 offseason instead of the 2019 offseason? If we save room for the 2019 offseason, I would take on Asik. Then Asik, Rubio, Burks, and probably Jerebko/Thabo in addition to Hood and Favors would be off the books.

Things in Cleveland have become so damn toxic

He's starting and he didn't want to go through the regular starters' presentation where he goes and gets greeted by teammates. Just stayed to the side in the dark.

edit: Boston fans on reddit are saying he was doing the same thing in Boston and that it's just "his thing"

Listen to all of his interview and Kevin Love's interview. The media is blowing this situation up. It really seems like nothing. Just like politics, we've got a lot of fake news in basketball.

Although I really would love to have Kevin Love on our team.

It's a pretty good answer by Thomas. His numbers will improve once he gets back to playing. But all this craziness in Cleveland is fun to watch.

Not to be insensitive, but Roberson just had a very serious looking injury and the Thunder were looking to be very aggressive at the trade deadline.

Preliminary reports say ruptured patellar tendon

Unfortunately for them they don't own their pick, it was traded to us originally and we then traded it to Minny for Rubio. Their 2020 is spoken for as well. I see no assets that could get them anything.

OKC are screwed. He had a massive positive impact for them
They’ll have to plug Ferguson into the lineup and hope for the best. Maybe pick up a guy once players get bought out. Won’t be much though. It’ll be interesting to see how the long term effects of injuries like these impact guys like AD and PG13 in terms of staying in NO or OKC long term.

I don't think Hill is in play. Not if the reports that he burned bridges during negotiations are correct. Skal, perhaps, but Dudley is ancient. Why would Utah want a 32-yr old who has rapidly declined? Doesn't fit with building around Rudy's window.

I think Fournier and Mirotic both happen...unless Utah trades for a different PF and wing. And with those two additions, Utah would likely make the playoffs, which would make trading the 1st less of an issue. Of course, Chicago could pick up Mirotic's option this summer and then trade him. That would allow Utah to see if they can land a player they really want or are willing to trade the rights to the player they pick.

Watching the Orlando game...I could so enjoy some Fourniercation. But damn, Payton's hair. Check the janitor's closet for the handle to that mop.
