Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Another avenue here would be NO picks up the option and feels good about re-signing boogie so on draft night they trade us Niko for our unguaranteed guys.

Hell they might do Niko for Jerebko and Thabo if they get Boogie back to add cost effective depth. IDK just spitballing. My guess is the deal goes through and Ajinca becomes a part of it.

Yeah it's a little more risky which may be why they're trying to throw in Ajinca. I'd still do it as the Bulls though.

I am curious what our plan is for replacing Favors, because nobody who can actually shoot the ball is obtainable.

NO will be at like 130M-135M in payroll next season if they bring back Boogie and keep Niko. That with all minimum guys filling out the empty roster spots... they could stretch Ajinca, but wow.

Still would have nothing on the wing to speak of. My guess is they would be open to dumping him into someones cap space next year... maybe for a second.

I could see that Bjelica guy being available now or in the summer. He's older and a little less durable, but has killed the three this year. Chicago can't afford to bring him back.

So let me understand. The deal couldn't be completed bc NO wanted Niko as an expiring to keep flexibility into FA (Boogie). Then Niko vetoed the trade?

He's not playing for Chicago. He's in Minnesota. He looks like Tibor.

He plays 15 MPG.

If he's our answer then we may as well just roll with Jerebko as next year's starter.

Still have a hard time believing that's all they want. Niko makes sense with the flexibility his contract offers. I'm sure his camp is what is hanging this up.
They can't take back a lot of salary for next year. THey want to re-sign Cousins and not break the bank to keep him in terms of LT.

So basically they would be losing a 1st for a rental. Yeah, I get why they would do it, but it's the type a short term move desperate GMs do to salvage a season.

It's a cap-clearing move.

Of course this is obvious. I guess it depends on the protections. If we are talking like top 24 protected or something then sure. Dumping Asik's deal isn't 1st-round worthy no matter your cap situation I believe.

Why would we want Mirotic? Jazz need to and should be able to get good draft pricks for Hood or Favors. Mirotic doesn't make sense. He's a short-term rental. What are we renting him for?

Yes it is. If you have no plans to sign players in 2018, its' 1000000% worth it.
