Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Love was a great idea a couple years ago when Favors, Joe Johnson and Hood had better trade value and our firsts didn't project to be as good. And when Love was a little younger and the Cavs had Kyrie.

Love now is too late and not worth it. Its a gamble not worth taking. He is good, but I have my doubts that he would get us too far.

I think we need to be focusing on 4 incredibly flexible and multidimensional starters to go with Gobert. I want to focus on athleticism and "good enough" outside shooting to go with that absolute terror of a rim protector. Teams are going to continue to go small and I want to do our own version of going small but having Gobert.

I don't know... Love is just 29, and he'll be a very good player for 4-5 years unless he gets injured too much. But I think the Cavs will be looking for more than I'd be willing to give up.

Love is destined to be a center sooner rather than later. He needs to be paired with a very strong, athletic, defensive power forward or at least PF/C. He will be a nightmare on PNR switches. I just don't buy Love as the guy for us. I like his game, but I don't think he fits next to Gobert for this 4 year window.

I'm starting to get on the Stanley Johnson train. He is a great defender and has so much potential. If we can find a way to pry Mirotic out of Chicago and trade a package of Hood for Stanley and a future first or future pick swaps, then our SF/PF flexibility improves greatly.

Core:
Mitchell, Gobert, Exum, Ingles, Stanley, Mirotic, O'Neale, and Bradley.
Depth: Maybe we keep Rubio on a decent deal in 2019, Udoh, Jerekbo, Thabo, etc.
Oh, and our 2018 1st could be amazing.

Lol. You should just delete this before anyone else reads it.

And why is that smart guy? Enlighten us.

I think a front court of Gobert and Love would get eaten up by a playoff opponent. I'm not gonna back down kid. That's my opinion. A 29 year old injury prone slow PF is not worth what we would have to sacrifice to get him.

I am aware injuries compound. I think he's soft as ****. He acted like he got shot after a common, minor calf strain and had to be life-flighted off the court.

I think he's more injury-prone than the average player, but I also think he's something of a hypochondriac. And also terribly soft.
Calf strains can feel like achilles tears man, they are pretty painful at first and you cant walk on them.

You are starting to sound like CJ.

Can they even afford him? Him joining the dubs would be an even weaker move then Durant going there, he can't afford that stigma, can he, if he wants to be the goat.

I might quit watching basketball if that happens. I think they’d have to trade Green and Thompson to make it work but still.

I don’t think it happens but he also formed the original super team... who knows.

They could trade Green and iggy for LBJ... maybe this is an elaborate plan to piss of draymond.

It would be Thompson and Iggy according to reports. I just dont see it being real.

And this is not the first super team. Rodman and Kukoc would only play for the Bulls. Jordan would only play for $30+ million per year (which was more than some teams back then). The Heat were not a super team just 3 guys playing together.

He could agree to opt in to his last year and have the Cavs trade him to the Warriors, ala CP3 to Houston.

What's in it for the Cavs? Iggy is a terrible contract, and Klay is a one-year rental. If they get every second first round pick the Warriors have the next decade or so, perhaps.
