For the record if you post in this thread it does not mean you love BYU more than your children. No probs there.

Anyway, BYU favored by 12. Kind of torn in that Anae needs to go but this game might make him look good.

Should be a really good bowl game to kick off the bowl season.
.......
Ok, I can't even type that with a straight face.

Oh please, hater.

Don't tell me that the SMU vs Army, Kentucky vs Pitt, Troy vs Ohio (not state. But Ohio), Louisville vs S. Mississippi, N Ill vs Fresno St, ILL vs Baylor, Nebraska vs Wash, Central Florida vs Georgia, and MARYLAND VS E CAROLINA tickle your fancy more.

Too much is being made of dumbass Yahoo's ranking of the BYU game. It's funny, the same people who we bash when we disagree with them, are the same people we love when we agree w/them. Which is it? Does yahoo know their stuff or don't? Because when Utah played Alabama, they didn't. But now all of a sudden they do?

There's a lot of crap NCAA football out there. In fact, other than a few BCS bowls, the rest of these games I could sleep through. I mean, seriously, Army vs SMU?

*barf*

So stop being a hater. Just because Utah is matched up against a very tough opponent, don't be hatin on the Cougs. Heaps is going to be scary and you're gonna see 3 more years of him.

I think this game is interesting for a variety of reasons.

I want to watch Heaps play.

I also want to see what happens w/Robert Anae. If BYU's offense looks good, I'm guessing he'll keep his job. If it sucks, perhaps a bad bowl showing will finally force Bronco's hand....

Already rumors floating around that there will be shakeups in the offensive coaching ranks, so I don't think it's dependent on the bowl game.

It would be nice to finish off the season with a winning record though. I don't know Jack Frost about UTEP however.

Looked up UTEP and their wins are over Arkansas Pine Bluff(5-6), New Mexico St.(2-10), Memphis(1-11), New Mexico(1-11), Rice(4-8), SMU(7-6)

Temple went 8-4 with a win over UConn and didn't get invited to a bowl.

Doman is very good at being political when talking about this stuff but I think he has been groomed and even told to some extent that the job is his. I don't think he'd be around otherwise. Not to say he'd be a great OC. But he is a very good QB coach and it's time for him to have his shot.

We asked him some tough questions regarding this and he got pretty evasive about it. I think/hope it's a done deal.

As far as UTEP they are just what the doctor ordered for a young team trying to take the next step.

There are way too many bowl games. The number needs to get reduced by about 50%. Or at least 30%. A team which is 6-6 should not be able to play in a bowl. And yes, I'm a BYU fan.

That would be nice. Even just going from 4 to 5 BCS games took bowl season a step down in my mind. I'm personally almost ready to ignore the whole thing if my team is not playing for a championship unless they implement a playoff. I would probably watch every single playoff game though.

I'm with Colton on this.
Thriller I am a Y fan, so take it easy.... just keeping it real.
It will be a good game to give Jake more reps.

There are too many bowl games because they're a scam. Many bowls - especially the really crappy and really good ones - require that each school has to buy a huge percentage of the tickets (say 50% each) at full price and then the schools are forced to sell the tickets in order to not lose money. And then the purse rarely - if ever - covers the cost for the team. Teams that don't make it to bowl games commonly make more money at the end of the year because they get conference money and don't get shafted with ticket, travel, and lodging cost.
