This...

I have friends and family members who always talk about doing some awesome trip, but always end up going to Disneyland every year...

Now I do go to South Africa every other year(family) but in between those trips we will go other places like Hawaii, Cabo and when we do go to South Africa we try to do layovers in cool places like London and Dubai!!

We can't all be winners of Deal or No Deal so Disney Land it is.

That's the thing though, Disneyland is pretty pricey for anybody that aren't SoCal locals now. You bank a couple of those trips and your world opens up. I do like Disneyland though and I'm sure once I have kids I'll figure out quickly that it's probably just a lot easier hauling kids to a place like that than many other options. Which is why you marry a woman that has parents that love tending grandbabies + have parents that love tending grandbabies.

Not when you can drive there. Flying a family isn't cheap. For example, I could probably take my family on an entire trip to Anaheim-SoCal for the price of just airfare to Miami or Hawaii.

I agree with you on banking a couple trips though, which is why I've never taken the kids to Disneyland. I'd rather spend the money to do it right while sprinkling in a few cheap trips in between (like retreating from the cold to Phoenix each winter!!!).

I'm excited for when my kids are older so we can start going to six flags instead of disney land/world.

Which one? I've been planning a train trip to Denver for the last couple of years to watch the Rockies and visit Six Flags, the Mint, etc.

Dude that was my wife..... Lol

That was 6 years ago and the places we have gone recently have been us saving up our money and not joining our friends/family at Disneyland!!!

St George weekend in the Spring
Disneyland/beach/LA week early summer
Debating a 1st trip to Hawaii late in the year or waiting a year

Just pushing the meme and didn't mean to take anything away from you having to work towards it or anything. :)

Fun thread to read. I quit my job, and am going to backpack/hitchhike around western Europe from March through June. I'll be back in Utah for a month, and then I'm going to move to China for a year to teach ESL. Already got the job worked out, just need to get the work visa processed. Unbelievably stoked, and terrified.

That is so awesome! I'm so excited for you, A!

So any of you guys going to try and leverage some good deals out of this "Cruise ship from hell" that's been in the news the past few days? You guys that have booked trips already should call and let them know how unsure you are about your reservation now so they can hook you up. I don't even want to go a cruise really, but I'm going to call in and see how much I can whittle down the price on a potential cruise just for kicks and if it's low enough I might just have to take it.

Thank you! And I'm glad to see you're serious about getting out of Utah soon. Far too many people toss the idea around and never follow through.

I'd love to get out of Utah again. I'd make much more money than I am now and I'd have a lifestyle much closer to what I enjoy. But I won't see my girls very often so here I stay.

Good idea, but I think they're going to tell you to kick rocks. Carnival cruises are already priced rock bottom (several of the Triumph passengers said they had only paid like $350 for the whole thing) and their leadership has already basically made it clear that they really don't care about this whole thing.
