Val did have a very good summer league though. He and Kanter will both get big minutes this season. It will be interesting to see who blossoms more.

Valanciunas will be playing in Eurobasket in September. So far reports from LT national team are impressive - he reported at 270lbs and appears to be much stronger and physical then last year. Summer league in Vegas MVP as well, 19pts, 10 reb. Dude looks to be on a mission.

Kanter is still better.

Would not be so sure. Coming after such serious injury like Kanter had might have some negative impact on his production this season. At any point it will be interesting to compare them this season when both are bond to get 30+ minutes a game.

I still like Kanter more but it's now a lot closer. JV did build up his body really well and has the edge experience wise.

Stupid Corbin!

It's hard to be JV. Since the 16-17's Kanter and him are being compared all the time and Kanter somehow always had the advantage and turned the heads because of the ridiculous stats he had put on the scoreboard using his beast strength against little kids. But he failed to play for about 2 years while Jonas played a great deal. I still think his ceiling is lower than Kanter, but he is trying hard. So what if he is a Euro-soft? Give the dude some time to learn his ups & downs and grow a game style upon it.

Is Jonas that much better than Ruby Gobert?

Gobert looks promising because of his physical traits, I can't say much about his BB skills from what we saw(which is limited) from him, but he seems he understands the game. Other than that, it's too early to say anything about him.

JV is already a very good player, he has an all around game, doesn't have any major shortcomings. He only needs to polish his game and adjust to the NBA. With his improved body he can solve his rebounding issues and can be a decent rebounder too. He will be a very valuable piece in the NBA, in my opinion.

Gobert is taller and more athletic. Valanciunas is better at everything else. Gobert has no offensive game so far and may never develop one . Which is ok, some players are meant to be defensive monsters ( B.Wallace comes to mind).
