Venting on Utah Drivers!!

I guess one thing to add to the thread is the Utahrds stopping on the "No Stop Required" merges and waiting for the cars to pass by. Read the ****ing sign or notice that you've got OWN lane to merge to.

BTW yes, Utah drivers are bad, but as someone who has driven in Naples, Athens and Istanbul you must know that there are much much worse driving conditions than here, in the promised land.
 
You can't compare drivers country to country really. I mean you have never been truly scared for your very life until you've been in the back seat of a trabant with a 300 lb east german guy in the front talking to you looking over his shoulder while the little lawn mower engine screamed as you rocketed over wet cobblestone streets at 60 mph through tiny villages at dusk, ignoring stop signs, villagers, and livestock. Those things are bombs waiting to explode and they drove them like they were insane or had death wishes or something.

That is just a whole other animal.

This frustrates me more than anything. It's such a simple thing to do EVERYTIME you change lanes or turn. Here in Arizona I would guess that people use their blinker about 20% of the time when changing lanes on the highway. Just flip the blinker on people. It's easy!
 
My main pet peeve are left hand turn arrows that up to 6 people go through even after it's already turned red.

Another one that gets me is drivers that get in the right hand turn lane and then jet through the intersection into the merge lane on the other side just so they can jump traffic.
 
It's kind of amazing that drivers are pretty much the same all over...all the problems you guys are talking about, we have them here in LA>
 
One more bitch: If you are going slower than traffic, stay the **** out of the HOV lane. Just because you have 2 or more does not mean you have to drive in that lane.
 
The HOV lane has become a giant joke.

This morning I was in the left "passing" lane driving 3 cars behind a cop in moderate traffic. HOV traffic was moving faster than me, and lo and behold this dude driving in HOV noticed the cop and bailed right in front of me (because he obviously wasn't supposed to be in that lane). Then another. And another. Soon there were around 15 vehicles biding their time, and as soon as the cop turned onto 215 these rats all jumped back into the HOV. I can't fault them completely as most were clearly businessmen who needed to get to work, and their time is more important than mine.

We need a new automatic system that simply shoots a cannon at HOV offenders.
 
@ Nick: I hate people like that. I mean, I might be making it out to be more than it is, but it's breaking the social contract of society...isn't it? There's this one 2 lane street in Studio City that takes you from the valley to the city. Its called Laurel Canyon. About a 1/4 of a mile from the apex of the hill it turns into one lane for through traffic and the right lane for turning right, ONLY, onto Mulholland Drive. There are always people driving on the right side to the very last second and then try to merge.

That happens all the time here and actually makes me more upset. In reality the HOV thing shouldn't bother me all that much since it means less traffic in my lane.

The same applies to the idiots that slow down to a near stop right in front of you on a 2 (or even 1) lane road with a median lane in the middle, then they move slowly into the turning lane and THEN signal (or not). I watched one moron stop traffic in that inside lane sitting there waiting for it to clear in the opposite direction, with cars piling up behind them, then when it was clear to turn they moved into the center median lane, then turned. Why didn't he move into the center lane so the lane he was in could keep moving?!?

Now I had a friend of mine who is a police officer explain that technically you are not supposed to sit in that center median lane waiting to turn, but that not one cop he knows would pull you over for doing so, and that he has personally pulled over many who sit in the traffic lane clogging up the street due to impeding traffic waiting to turn when they could have pulled into the center lane.

I usually take that time to create a "teaching moment" by either pacing the car next to me, or slowing down until they back off, or change lanes..... then of course I speed up so they can't pass me.
It's also fun to watch those cars constantly change lanes to get a second or two ahead of the next car, they drive like a fly flies. It makes me laugh when I am right behind them at the off-ramp. I usually help them feel at home by bumping them just a little at the light, because I know they had a rough day and need a laugh.

yep, tailgaters are the worst, i do like giving the "teaching moments" on I-215 as you say and watch them get frustrated and changing lanes only to be behind a slower car and having to keep changing lanes at the point i passed them and just laugh.

these people seem to come in bunches like you'll see others following the same pattern. idiots.

i also hate people who use the middle lane as their own personal lane and expect you to let them merge in whenever they so choose. this black guy actually started yelling at me because i wouldn't let him in, but what was I supposed to do? slam on my brakes and let the guy behind me ram me? his teenage son was in the car and just stared at me like i committed a crime, great driving lesson to teach to his son. smh.
