What's new

Veterans are coming...time to panic?

When was the last time a relatively young team won a championship. This team is at the very least 5 years away from competing for a championship. You need skilled vets to get anywhere in this league.

All we need now is a bench I'm good with our starters it's time to win. If we can put a good bench together, we are ready to win now with the starting 5 we have now.

I've said it all along:

Millsap will be back for less than he made last year. That will humble him and he will finally accept his role as first big off the bench.

More I think about it, I believe they'll make a hard run at Millsap and have him start with Favors at the 5. Millsap has a very good mid-range game and with Al gone, he'd be a main option. Burke and Favors can also run the P&R with Millsap out at 15-ft. Kanter will come off the bench, but might be available at the deadline for the right price if Gobert develops. I guess using $8M or so of cap space is ok. We don't get anything extra but Millsap has been a borderline all-star (well, except for last year). Still leaves $17M in cap room for deadline deals.

This is as good a thread as any to post this in:

While convo with Jazz expected, source told Y! free agent PG @mowilliams wouldn't return if he's not the starter. Utah drafted PG Trey Burke

Ok. Peace out, hero.

Are you guys forgetting this?

"@AlexKennedyNBA: I've heard this too. RT @ESPNSteinLine Rising sense out there that Jazz might simply let big man Al Jefferson walk in free agency"

@AlexKennedyNBA: Shortly after the season ended, I heard that Al Jefferson was packing his bags and expecting to walk elsewhere as a free agent."

"@AlexKennedyNBA: I also heard that Paul Millsap and Earl Watson got into it with Ty Corbin last season. Not sure if that will affect their future in Utah."

Order has been restored.

Most people on this board want Hayward at the 2 correct? I am one of them. He gets overpowered against SF's.

So why and the HELL are people saying we should sign Foye? If we sign Foye...... Burks will never play? Does everyone not remember they play the same position? Can't trust Corbin here

We need to sign a SF starter. Let Foye go. Burks backs up Hayward. Hayward plays a little 3. Sign Carroll and than your done. Marvin comes in and they compete for the back up SF role.

Good I don't want Mo back anyway. Funny how vets think they are entitled to start but rookies have to earn it. Sorry but if the Jazz bring back Mo or Jefferson I won't have any interest in the team. I don't even want Millsap back unless he is willing to be a 6th man. Every year Jazz fans get excited about the draft and then after the draft the Jazz organization start bringing in washed up vets.

If you don't think Kanter and Favors can play together then why did you draft Kanter. Besides isn't it the coaches job to figure out how to use each guy.

Foye is good for about 32 games when he gets hot but when he can't throw it in the ocean he is worthless. There is no way I want him back unless you use him situational off the bench as a scorer but I agree if he is on the team then Burks is going to suffer.

I've been on the No Foye bandwagon since the season ended. I agree 100%! The Jazz need a SF. Hayward can play some at both wing positions. Next year the Jazz draft someone like Young or GRIII (if they finish in the 7th spot).

If bringing back Millsap means the Jazz are going to trade Kanter then I am completely against bringing back Millsap.

I think Kanter is a goner no matter what. There was a rumor he was being shopped, which was denied. But we also heard some in the organization have concerns about a Kanters/Favors combination. His lifestyle and constant photos partying with scantily clad women isn't helping.

Lifestyle shmifestyle. That's just ****ing absurd. Malone has like 50 billion kids out of wedlock. CJ miles partied his *** off 24/7 and he lasted, what, 8 years? AK had a free marriage pass and no one gave a damn. I'm starting to think you're stirring the spot troll style

Relax it probably means signing Foye and a small forward type guy like a Kyle Weaver.

I'm not a huge fan of Foye eating up Burks' minutes, but if that's the worse it is than to me that'll be ok damage.

Re-signing Al will be like dropping a nuke on my next season enthusiasm.

Man, you're one of my favorite people here, but for chrissakes step off the ledge :D

I can't believe how quickly some on this board have jumped off the bandwagon. Trade Kanter to make room for Gobert? Crazy.

I think the Jazz should sign someone like Josh McRoberts, He'd be a decent 15-20 minute guy off the bench. Plus the Bobcats got a hell of a good draft pick with him playing those minutes.
