When the Jazz draft the exact guy I want, the track record isn’t great (Kanter and Burke). When they pass up on the exact guy I really want, they end up usually being pretty good. It’s actually crazy to think of the amount of time I’ve spent invested in drafts over the past couple decades and to think that they’ve only drafted the specific guy I’ve wanted going into it twice. I’ve gotten much more passive about drafts the last few years. The last one I remember was when I wanted Divincenzo and didn’t want … damn, it’s late and I can’t remember the Duke kid’s name. Anyway, even that draft I was way less invested in than normal. The first draft that I ever got super into ahead of time was the Raul Lopez draft and that one left me pretty disappointed.

ETA: Grayson Allen.
I thought Dante Exum was going to be a star and was scared he'd eventually leave us for the Lakers.

The problem with draft evaluation is that people compare what one team did against what 29 other teams did, same with picking up prospects. Virtually no one looks good in that kind of evaluation. The Jazz may not have been great in drafting but without doing the in-depth evaluation I dont think we are near as bad as others on this board. The Jazz have drafted two all stars that are still wearing Jazz uniforms. There are some that have done better but a lot that have done a lot worse. The draft is indeed a crap shoot and it is for every team in the league.

I don’t talk myself into all of them. Lyles at least had some thought behind it… hopefully he had more than he showed… size and maybe shooting…turns out Book was the one.

The Doke pick for example.., I knew that was some stupid **** on draft night and I could never rationalize it.
I didnt know anything about him or the pick at that late, I didnt really care who we picked. It would be really nice if he panned out as well as the Jazz thought, then trading Gobert right now would be really easy at least.

For me it was Alec Burks. Nothing against AB, but I couldn't believe we didn't take Kawhi Leonard.
Yeah that one really hurt, especially because Kawhi had played so much in the Mountain West Conference so we’d seen what he could do. Once Jimmer was drafted I thought we’d take Kawhi for sure.

It's a good thing I'm not a scout or in someone's front office because I thought Jimmer was a lead pipe cinch to be an NBA Star when he was in college.

It's amazing that sometimes we'll make macaroni for the younger kids and my wife and I and maybe the older kids get something else. It doesn't matter how fancy or good the meal is, I always end up eyeballing that macaroni and cheese and start taking bites of it, without any cravings for whatever else it was we were eating.
Ever tried macaroni, garlic, pepper, and butter(or healthier oil based alternative)?

That one was disappointing as well. I didnt care as much about that draft but really wanted Oubre. Obviously in retrospect Booker was the pick.

Ill talk myself into any move the Jazz make draft or FA or whatever. It is often the wrong choice, but I always prefer just to cheer for whatever is happening. No reason to get worked up and angry for me.
In 2020 I wanted either Desmond Bane or Jaden McDaniels and we took Udoka

In 2021 I wanted either Herb Jones or Ayo Dosunmu and we traded the pick

I saw so much Malcolm Brogdon in Ayo coming out

Something tells me that one of our jerseys will be white with the current Jazz logo we use, but instead of being blue with the yellow and green inside of the note, it will be all black with some added black, white, gold collar, and belt line. I'd actually dig that. I'd be straight with gold, with the black note logo as well.
