VICTORY!!! LPGA to change policy on ‘female at birth’

Fair enough, but I don't see why you're telling me to "slow down" and "I wouldn't be interested". I'm up for discussing it.

"Slow down" just because you hit that tangent so fast. It appeared you weren't interested in the line of discussion I was taking.

Don't act like that wasn't from you. I change my mind to a pro-transgender, pro-female stance and you come along with your typical homophobic and sexist commentary. How dare you get after someone for promoting equal opportunity for women. I would be honored to be a Jazz fan while they play the first ever female player in an NBA game. But not you, no. It's all suppression and hate. You should be stripped of your moderator duties and immediately banished to arguing with Hopper on One Brow's pig pen.

If competitive equity was completely destroyed, or if (in a very unlikely scenario) a sport came to be dominated by a group of transgendered individuals to the extent that females-at-birth were functionally precluded from participating then there's a stronger argument for exclusion or creation of a special division. I don't know if that would happen or if it has ever happened.

That's not where we are today.

I agree. As I stated before, I don't believe that we would see any real advantage materialize, anyway. Ex cop or not.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to franklin again.

I wouldn't want to date someone who was transgender. I also wouldn't necessarily want to date someone who was black. I also would not particularly care to date someone who is polynesian. I am fully prepared to be flamed.

The interesting thing is, one of my very best friends is openly gay and several of my closest friends are black. My brother-in-law is mixed race, my cousin is korean, my other brother-in-law is mexican. And it doesn't end there.

And if my daughter wanted to marry someone who was black and my son found happiness with a transgendered individual I would welcome them into my family with open arms.

But everyone is entitled to their own preferences without being labeled for them. No one should be forced to go against their own preferences just to prove they are pro-whatever. People should be just as tolerant of other people's preferences as everyone is expected to be of everyone else's race, religion, gender, sexual preference, or whatever.

Of course if one's preferences leads one to do harm to others, that is another argument entirely. I am just addressing the whole "would you date" comment.

But to hell with purple people, unless they are suffocating, then help them.

Good post. I tried to rep you, but I must spread some first. I wish spreading rep was as fun as spreading herpes.

I hit that tangent because a) it was significant and b) it had to do with what I was talking about. I'm interested in your line of discussion, I may not agree, but I am open to see different view points.

Believe it or not, I've had a lot of view's of mine change since posting on jazzfanz. Views that I never thought I would have. I'd hate to get kinda corny and all, but all in all, I'm kinda grateful for jazzfanz because of it. Good learning experiences here.

Archie is a dumbass, but I do want to agree with him on one point: I'd rather see a few individuals suffer than an entire league suffer. I don't like the idea of, "Let's wait and see if he/she dominates, then we'll do something about it.", that seems chicken **** to me. Either he/she is in, or out. I think it's unfair to let her/him play on the LPGA tour, and it would be unfair to the entire league to change the rules to accommodate a single individual.

I just noticed that on the first page of this thread I agreed with MCR and basically said, "Who cares -- good for her.". I think it is very interesting how my opinion of this has changed in just a few months. I'm not sure why.

In pursuing that tangent, you weren't actually addressing my statement. Normally, this wouldn't matter, but since you quoted me, then took my assertion to another area of discussion, I thought my response was appropriate. We will just have to disagree. I respect your opinion, but I don't really believe either of us is going to change our mind.

I am going to stick with my opinion that the LDC win bears very little on the overall issue. I find the significance of it negligible, at best.

I also want to reiterate my belief that this is a non-issue until this golfer starts dominating the LPGA (which I don't see happening...)

I'm not interested in reading much Lawyer vs. The Ten, but I tend to quote Log a lot, so here goes...

I also would not particularly care to date someone who is polynesian.

Dude, I know what they say about looking at their mother and all; I get that. But the trick is they don't get fat if you feed them coconut milk every day. How can you turn down them teenage eyes. Am I right?

Apologist... blah, blah... skip this ****.

And if my daughter wanted to marry someone who was black and my son found happiness with a transgendered individual I would welcome them into my family with open arms.

I declare bull ****. It may be hard to believe, but I'm a father and know better.

If your daughter brought home a tranny from the bottom of Chile you'd be screaming ape **** and you know it. Practically nobody from Southern Chile has money. You ain't bullshitin' nobody, Jimmer forbid.

Ahh, ****, I just read all this...

Are we really being surious up in hur? Get the **** back to trading Raja for a lady you thread jacking ******* hack ****tard uptight panty-in-the-*** ********.

here's some good news for the transgendered community...

Cook County has new policy for transgender inmates

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-il-cookcountyjail-tr,0,4240561.story

CHICAGO—
Transgender inmates at Cook County Jail can now be housed, dressed and searched according to the gender they identify with rather than their sex at birth under a new policy that advocates hope will keep some of the facility's most vulnerable detainees safe.

Since March 21, transgender inmates entering the jail have been screened by a Gender Identity Committee that decides where and how they should be housed. Previously, all inmates automatically were assigned to live among the gender they were born with, regardless of how they self-identified, a situation that attorneys said put them at high risk for physical and sexual abuse....

The new seven-page policy applies to housing, clothing, showering, grooming and searches, among other categories. The Gender Identity Committee has broad discretion over what clothes and toiletries inmates should have access to and what gender security officers can search them. The policy requires sensitivity training on gender identity disorder and the Gender Identity Committee for all officers and supervisory staff.

Policies for transgender inmates are becoming more common across the country, with jails in Washington, San Francisco and Maine adopting them, advocates said. Cook County Jail is the first in Illinois to institute one, according to Steve Patterson, spokesman for the Cook County sheriff's office.

The rules took effect March 21 and have been applied to seven inmates since then, and staff already have seen some early success with one woman in particular, Patterson said...

Advocates said they're cautiously optimistic that the policy will improve conditions and security for transgender inmates, but that only time will tell.

definitely a positive step IMO, though I wonder if those born as females who identify as men will be as willing to be housed in the men's section of the prison as those born as males who identify as women are willing to be housed in the women's section
