What's new

Vikings TV series.

I quit Vikings in season 4. Last Kingdom looks better but it may go Vikings route and get worse every season.

Last Kingdom is dope I hope they do a nother season. They cannot see out The Proscenium Window tho.

If yer inta Monty Python type humor check out Norsemen. I was expecting GoT but was pleasantly surprised. So I googled it an EVERYONE is comparing it ta a cross tween Monty Python an GoT. Watch it an thank me later.

The last kingdom also has one of my favourite actor in it, Ian Hart. He's in a great Ken Loach film called Land and Freedom about the Spanish Civil War and the betrayal of the revolution by Stalinists and the Spanish Communist Party. Its based on a bunch of memoirs (chiefly George Orwell's Homage to Catalonia) and it a great film. He's also in Aberdeen a joint British/Norwegian production with Lena Headey (Cersie Lanister) also worth watching.

How about latest few episodes? Is Ivar going completely insane? What is happening in Iceland?

I don't really feel like going back and looking to see if it's been brought up here, but anyone who enjoys Vikings ought to check out The Last Kingdom on Netflix. It's a slightly more historical look at the Viking age in current day England (although the protagonist himself is a fictional character). I really can't recommend it highly enough.

I watched season 1 and didn't like it so I moved on to other things

It has its fare share of loyal fans. Ratings are decent as well.
It definitely isnt a bad show. I just lost interest. It just started to seem like a show without a clear endgame insight, and those get dull to me.

I agree. While they try to follow historical events, it does get repetitive. Raid foreign lands, revolt, backstab, repeat, rinse, and again the same...It is missing something new and unexpected. Floki discovering Iceland was cool but development of that storyline was a big disappointment so far.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed The Last Kingdom.

I will give Last Kingdom a go after I am done with this Vikings season. I think it is only two more episodes remaining.

Hmmmm. Never heard of it. Has anyone heard of Turn? I hear that's also a good show.

I’m just rereading this thread and saw this. I absolutely loved Turn. But I love the whole Revolutionary time period.
