Hi.
I will be there this coming late October or early November for a day or two.
First time to be there and will most probably sked this with a Jazz game.
Any info/assistance on what to do in such short time?

Go to a Jazz game, go skiing/snowboarding, see the Mormon stuff downtown and hit up some bars/restaurants downtown.
 
It will be too early to ski if its late October or early November (unless we start winter way too early).

Depends on what you like to do. There is always good theater and cultural events at a variety of venues. Lots of hiking and outdoor activities for all levels of ability in the mountains (which are really close). The LDS Church tours are interesting. And despite what the Warriors say, you'll be able to find some nightlife.

Theater should be ok. What kind of cultural events are there? Is there a website I can monitor for those dates?
Would love to go hiking but I doubt the missus will go for that.

BYU often has great concerts and shows. You can check the schedule here when your dates get closer: https://arts.byu.edu/events/ (I imagine U of U probably has a similar arts calendar.)

BYU's Museum of Art often has cool exhibitions, so you can check their website (https://moa.byu.edu/exhibitions-2/current-exhibitions/) when the time gets closer to see if anything interests you. And it's free!

The dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point is pretty cool, albeit pricey. https://www.thanksgivingpoint.org/experience/museum-of-ancient-life/. There's also a great botanical garden there, although I'm not sure if late October would be a good time of year for that.

I think someone else already mentioned Temple Square--that's a must see.

Would love to go hiking but I doubt the missus will go for that.

If not hiking, the "Alpine Loop" scenic drive can be gorgeous. It goes from American Fork Canyon to Provo Canyon:

If you're not used to mountains, it will probably take your breath away. However, it closes for the winter. I'm not sure when that is (probably depends on when first snow is for the yeaer), so you should call before going--to find out the status you can call the Pleasant Grove Ranger District at 801-785-3563. Pro tip--if/when you drive it, it will look like there's a $6 fee per car, but if you just stick to the road and don't get out at any of the usage areas, the fee doesn't apply.

For a longer drive you could detour from the Alpine loop to Cascade Springs and walk around there (not really hiking, just walking).

Cascade Springs up the Alpine Loop is pretty rad in the fall leaf change. Saw a moose charge through there last time an scare a bunch of people into jumping in the pools (had nowhere else to go).

Going to SLC is becoming bleak due to scheduling concerns with other activities :(
Still hoping we get to squeeze the trip.

Might instead go to the Jazz@Clippers game
Was hoping for the Jazz vs Lakers game

The SLC area has some really nice McDonald's. The Burger Kings are ok. Some of the Wendy's are really great, others just suck, kind of hit and miss. You are welcome.

Not to far from Vivint is a dueling piano bar called Keys On Main. Its really fun.

I went out with my buddy last spring for five days and caught game 3 of the Clips series. While we stayed in Park City, we did spend a decent amount of time in SLC.

Bars: I went to about 4-5 bars and definitely liked Whiskey Street the most. Tremendous alcohol selection and cool vibe. We tried Keys on Main but it was a Thursday and it was closed when we tried late.
Restaurants: Fleming's. Really good, higher end steakhouse.
***** bars: Didn't do any. Fish bitched out.
 
I might be driving through SLC in October to Las Vegas to visit family there - might stop in SLC for a night, would be cool to attend a Jazz game finally. Need to check schedule and make it happen!

From 50-50 to 40-60 now it seems 25% chance of going to SLC :( :(

Just in case, can one buy Utah Jazz merchandise in LA?
Hoping to wear one if I get to watch the Jazz game vs Clippers.
I am looking for the Adidas UTAH JAZZ BASKETBALL shirts.
TIA.

Buy online. And definitely wear it to a clipper's game. We went to the 1st playoff game this year and it was transcendent. So much fun to hear the crowd fall into stunned silence as JJ hit that winning floater, and to hear the smattering of screaming Jazz fans throughout the arena. One of the best playoff games I have ever attended tbh.

didn't you also visit all five national parks in a single afternoon?
