Waiting on Exum

Strength is needed, obv... not necessary for him to make a huge leap though. He's already burning past guys before putting on his best deer in the headlights face. If he figures out how to score he will scare the league in the assists department. Dude has elite court vision I believe.

Crazy court vision...he's a fly out there.

He needs to be able to dribble more than strength. You can be a fast as you want but if your handle isn't up to par you can't really use your speed.

Yeah he definitely needs a move to get him free. Even a subtle jab step would help, hes so quick.

Agree. He often gets into the lane and then it's like, "holy ****, what do I do now?"
With Hayward and Burks? playing beside him, I think he needs to work the most on his 3PT shooting. Obviously, he'll go to P3 with the others and work on adding strength and conditioning in the off-season. Sounds like Snyder has the right plan in place; he's having Dante concentrate on pushing the ball and playing great defense right now.

I feel like Dante is not really an explosive athlete as much as he has long fluid stride. With his body geometry, it helps his quickness, but gives him a high center balance which makes him get knocked off balance easily. He really needs to get stronger. He will eventually but it will take time.

He's definitely not explosive. That was one reason I didn't want to draft him. He still looks like a 26 inch Jarron Collinsesque vertical.

Maybe Snyder should tell him to copy Trey's game until he figures it out. Couldn't be worse than the 5th pick and Trey is leaving his options open Burks.

Hopefully Exum will spend some time this upcoming offseason at P3 and work on that along with his strength and weight.

I wonder, how much can someone improve their vertical? I can't recall hearing about athletes improving their vertical.

Pretty much every NBA player has a better vertical than they did at 18-19. You can improve your vertical significantly. Even if you dont train that much your vertical will naturally go up if you are in shape until late 20's.

Or if we did sign a starting PG we could sign him to 2 or 3 years. Gives flexibility and the player would probably want it so he could get more money with the cap going up.

It strikes me as important that Exum has the starting job right now. I know he wasn't setting the world on fire, but he has it. And, for the most part, he's doing what's being asked and performing as well as could reasonably be expected. Exum will be much better by this time next year. The job will be firmly his by that time. We need a quality backup. Corey Joseph. Spend the money on the wings.
