According to what I heard on the radio this morning, it appears he was in some kind of single-car accident that catapulted his car into the tracks (perhaps due to a medical issue).

They haven't said much about the driver and his condition now. If it was a suicide attempt (not that I've heard speculation of that), I wonder if he's angry or grateful.
