What's new

Was the playoff still worth missing out on DLillard?

So, just how is KOC responsible for us not losing the game against the Warriors? Should he have thrown a towel on the court like it was Kramer vs. Kramer? Or perhaps punched a referee earning a technical? Perhaps he should have suited himself up at SG and bricked shot after shot.

But because he did none of those things, the hands of time and space were not altered allowing us to get a pick where we could never have gotten a pick.

The Utah Jazz need to play to win every game. If you want tankers, go cheer for the Warriors, knucklehead.

And we are technically the same team that backed our way in last year.
So what you're saying is that Marvin = Howard (or CJ) and none of the younger players will improve at all?

GS also has to leapfrog several teams. OK, let's suppose they replace Utah as the 8th seed. So we end up with a lottery pick + somewhere in the 15-18 range from GS. Disappointing, because it means Favors didn't step up, Marvin had a lousy season, Hayward was again inconsistent and Burks = CJ. But at least we have a lottery pick and another in the mid-teens to pick up some solid replacements.

I think that this board love KOC out of ignorance they won't hold him accountable when he makes mistakes and they love his moves. Until they don't pan out then they justify him again. In two years when Hayward is mediocre, Favors/Kanter still haven't developed or are to big of superstars to keep. There will be a big group that will praise his next move. Time will tell who is right. But, Portland has cap space and some great young talent. They got rid of their GM and brought in a new on who looks agressive good for them not settling.
Portland is your model of a good franchise/GM...seriously?

They drafted Lillard, Leonard and matched the offer for Batum. The Hibbert talk was much ado about nothing as Indiana said all along they would match any offer for him. What are Portland's other amazing additions? Ronnie Price, re-signing J.J. Hickson? Puh...lease. I'll take Utah's young four of Hayward, Favors, Kanter and Burks over Porty's picks. A ton of cap space? Well, they ain't using it this season. So they'll save some scratch vs. Utah. Big deal. They'll finish well out of the playoff picture and Utah is expected to make the playoffs. As for next summer, Utah can have just as much cap space as Portland, depending on what they do with Millsap, Jefferson and Mo Williams.

No, but if we would have lost to GS then we would have had the 8th and the 18th. Hell sakes we could have tried to even get Perry Jones who dropped like a rock which would have shored up or big men and given us more of a chance to move Al or Millsap. Now, Thunder are in a win win if they can't resign Ibaka who we should've drafted over Kufos they have Jones to take his place at a cheaper price.
How is KOC to blame for us beating GS?

There are too many "ifs" to be truly upset. If we got the 14th pick, if we won the coin toss vs. GS, if GS didn't tank and the pick didn't jump into the top 3, if Portland would trade the 6th pick for the 8th and 14th, if Utah actually would have picked Lillard.

I honestly can't be upset with an organization trying to win. While that hasn't resulted in any championships yet, that's no reason to fault an organization at all.

No, but if we would have lost to GS then we would have had the 8th and the 18th.
Can you please explain to me how we would have gotten the #8 and #18 slots? The #8, I understand. You are stating all other things would have been equal and GS, with one additional loss, would not have ended up in a tie for 7th.

But, Jazz would not have ketp their own pick. And there's no way we could have drafted Lillard. Portland was set on taking him at #6. Go back and read all the pre-draft chatter on Hoops Hype or any other site. There was a lot of talk about teams trying to move up into the top-5. No deals got done. No one traded at all in the Top-10. I don't recall another year in which so few draft trades were made. So Utah would have likely taken Barnes at #8. Are Harris and Barns better than Mo and Marvin? At worst, you can probably claim that's a wash.

Why even come into this thread if you don't want to actually bring something to the conversation. YOu should take you superiorness and sculpt as statue!

If a thread doesn't make sense in the first place, it is utterly useless. Therefore, the quality of the responses is irrelevant.

EDIT: What I meant to say is gobbldygook blah blah blah vroom vroom la la la!

If Burks, Hayward and Favors have taken leaps forward; then, the playoffs were far more valuable.
