Well if the Jazz are moving up so they only have one rookie then they haven't changed a bit. Yea because leaving roster spots open for washed up vets has shown the way to build a playoff team. There is really no one that I am that excited about in this draft to give up two picks for one guy. Besides, I think the Jazz every year try to move up but most years it is tough to do. However, when you read that GMs are trying to move down why would you move up? There is a reason why GMs are trying to move down, because there isn't enough separation talent-wise to justify picking some of the top guys over mid-range guys. Is Burke really that much better than CJ or Schroeder?
I don't see that as their reasoning at all. I could only see packaging picks in an attempt to get a highly coveted guy a few spots up.

I don't love this draft.. but I like where our picks land.

Has to be for a better player but I am fully on board with not wanting two first round picks. C4, plus Murphy, plus Evans, a 1st and 2nd round pick this year, gives us at least 8 very young players. That is more than enough.

Picks are assets. Therefore we need to make sure we're getting something of equal/greater value if we're giving one up.

I know that's obvious.. I just had to say it anyway.

Well, neither is just filling the roster with young middle-of-the-road talent. That's what keeps teams buried in the lottery for years. Jazz have a decent young core at every roster spot EXCEPT PG. If Lindsey/KOC have determined one of the PG's really stands out, then go get him! Combining the 14 and 21 picks is low cost. Seriously, is that #21 going to result in a true impact player? Very, very unlikely. Maybe 1 chance in a 100 of that happening. KOC had a pretty good eye for talent when he decided standing pat and drafting Felton wasn't good enough. Not saying there's another Deron in this draft, but perhaps there is a legit starting PG to be had if the Jazz can move up a few spots.

Of course you're disappointed if you don't win the lottery but Rigby almost seemed TOO mad. Like the Jazz REALLY want a player in the top 3.

My only guess is the Jazz desperately want Trey Burke.

I'd say Burke is the obvious choice followed by Porter.

I think I might reverse that order. For some inexplicable reason Ty Corbin was announcing at the Combine that the Jazz are looking for a scoring wing. So if you can get Porter early by giving up the 14th pick and Alec Burk, and then get Marion and the 13 pick for MCW or Schroder.

It's almost an either/or.

Go Burke at #3 and then the best scoring wing at #13.. or as you described.. both seem plausible to me.

I think you need to check Evan's age.

Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful. Or something to that effect.

Looks like they Jazz are buying low on this one. Sounds good to me.

I think it makes sense to take advantage of the cap space we have... why not?

If we can take on Marion's contract and swap our #21 with their #13 - why not do it? We need to make the min. salary anyway, plus we need players to fill the roster until next year.. this year's FA list isn't that great.

We strike out at the trade deadline - now it's time to cash in our chips.

ALL IN!!!!

Perfect! Marion and Marvin Williams??? Yesssss! There's no way favors and Hayward can start now!

As long as we keep our c4 on the bench with vets on their last leg, ill be happy.

Is there any way we could sign Jwuan Howard from the heat? Signing him would keep favors or kanter from playing, which would just be awesome.

Jazz fans need to realize that the c4 isn't ready and that vets are the only players who should be playing in the nba. The mere fact that Paul George is starting for the pacers but would still be struggling to break our starting lineup should tell you something.....

I'm not buying it. They were actively trying to move up but couldn't in the Hayward draft, they were actively trying to get into last years draft, and they were actively trying to make a move at the trade deadline.

This.

2 things to know:

#1 the Utah media sucks. They are thee laziest media in the entire free world. They merely drink whatever their jazz masters tell them. Bill hasn't done any actual research to confirm what's he jazz's media intern fed him.
#2 what are the jazz or any NBA organization going to say? "Nope, we are actually sitting all content like with our spot. We aren't going to do anything!"
Of course the jazz are "actively" looking to move up. They always are. But whether or not that actually does anything is the question. Look at history. The jazz benign active=don't expect anything to happen

If they're looking to move up, it has to be realistic and realistic is probably somewhere in between 8-13.
This is probably out of Burke range, but right inside McCollum range.
Sooooo McCollum?

That's the only thing that makes even a little sense to me.

Did I mention that I'm more of a Schroeder man myself?

I swear, if the Jazz trade up and take McCollum they're gonna regret it when he's a ****ing bust and Schroeder is an all-star on the Bucks.

That's how I'm feeling.

Then the talk will not be Gordon vs George, it will be McCollum vs Schroeder. That would be bad if the Jazz had a chance to draft both and they didn't.

Great point.

Crazy to think that both Cleveland and Phoenix have about 10 picks over the next three drafts.
