What's new

Washington Whinezards

Definitely not a well refereed game. But I'd say overall we benefited more than them. The only reason I bring it up at all is because if the teams were swapped this forum would be whining like crazy. So this thread just seems weird to me.

Agreed. But such are the vagaries of playing in the NBA. Definitely one of the more subjective sports in terms of calls. Generally speaking it's the team with more attempts in the paint that gets more favorable calls but in this case they outscored us 46 to 28 in the paint. Pretty sure we'd be complaining as well.

Still, it wasn't like we couldn't score the basketball otherwise, shooting a solid 47%. Like in most cases of free throw disparities, it's more the timing of the calls and they definitely did nothing to bail us out down the stretch. Of course I'm biased but I thought we looked like the better team throughout.

There were honestly missed calls on both sides. Gobert walked on a play where the Wiz were called for a foul. Hayward has his toe on the line for a 3 that was credited as a 3. The push off, etc. But the Wiz were fouling a lot more than the Jazz because they didn't know what else to do to stop us, and they got called more often than not.

We've seen this time and time again. These teams that have no concept of real defense and how it is played, whine, bitch, and moan when the Jazz beat the **** out of them. Nut up and play harder than the Jazz, thats the only way you'll win.

Wizards players actually believe that the refs cost them the game...hilarious. With a straight face, Markieff Morris actually said “We had a bad game. They had a bad game. We came out with the loss. We’re the ones that’s reaping the consequences. It’s one of those games.”

LOL. Yup, Jazz had a "bad game"...
If not for the refs grabbing several rebounds for us, we wouldn't have had a 52-27 rebounding advantage?
If not for the refs displaying their shooting abilities, the Jazz wouldn't have shot 46% from 3?
If not for the refs helping us with their long arms, Jazz wouldn't have had 11 blocks?

Well, they are in DC...media and their "fake news" out to get the President, and now the "fake officiating" out to get the Wizards? Hmmm...

consider the source...6'10" Morris played 30 minutes, had 3 rebounds, shot 3-11, and had a whopping minus 23...must be the refs...

nah the russians influenced the referees

it seems to me that teams who whine are the ones who don't adapt to the way a game is called and fail to get real physical themselves.

I watched the game this morning and i really can't see that they were robbed. They just sucked

I'll have to re-watch this game, Wall sounded like he was about to cry in the interview.

I didn't see the complaining from Morris he actually had a good quote hahaha

Everyone whines about the refs. We do it too, and often.

So, it does not register much for me when opposing players and fans whine. What bugs me to no end, however, is this quote from Wall, "“It’s frustrating,” Wall said. “You keep attacking the basket. No-name guys getting calls on the other end, that’s getting little contact." While I don't adhere zelously to the 'a foul's a foul' thinking (context matters at times), I object to the league's star treatment in which establlished stars get calls that 'no-name' players don't get. (Witness Exum getting mugged and not getting calls, while one only has to breath on Harden--slight exaggeration--to get a foul called.) Wall, in other words, is crying because he's not getting special treatment from the refs like he thinks he deserves. Go ahead and whine about fouls being called or not called, no problem, but shut the hell up about not getting star treatment you whiny biatch. You, nor any other 'star,' is entitled to it.

The Jazz attacked inside; the Wizards were content to shoot perimeter shots. Of course the FT's will be unbalanced!
There were missed calls both ways. When the Wiz announcers pointed out the imbalance at around 13-1, there really weren't any missed calls that SHOULD have sent Washington to the line. It really wasn't until their 4th quarter run that Wall and Beal started attacking. Gortat and Morris wanted no part of Gobert and Favors after just a few minutes of the 1st.

Yeah, I'd like to think those days are behind us as far as the star system initiated by David Stern. I remember when he copped to it and defended it in SI saying that nobody pays to see the stars foul out. He did created the greatest sports Icon the world had ever seen in Jordan and increase attendance from the Larry Obrien days so who am I to judge. Still it was starting to resemble professional wrestling when the Tim Donaghy book came out which created scrutiny which I believed led to a less partial game. Still I've seen some pretty egregious evidence to the contrary recently and then this comment from Wall.

Actually the Wizards outscored us in the paint 46 to 28.
