What the writers of that movie did to Taskmaster is just wrong. They ruined an incredibly interesting villain. WTF Disney?!? If this is the type of stuff they plan on doing to established characters going forward the MCU's best days are decidedly over. That retcon is such a disappointing downgrade. If you haven't yet seen this movie and know anything about the Taskmaster character, I would recommend a strong dose of anti-nausea medicine for the identity reveal.

So Skelator?
It isn’t the look of the character that I have the issue with. Even in the comics the skull face is a helmet or face shield. It is the character itself the writers butchered.

The Taskmaster of the comics has the ability to perfectly mimic any fighting style or physical ability upon seeing it. The effect is immediate so he can adapt in the middle of fights with opponents he’s never seen but it comes with a downside in that he forgets memories. The absorbed fighting knowledge crowds out memory of people and experience. He functions a lot like the main character in Memento.

He’s a contractor employed by the worst of the worst to teach mercenary forces and to lead missions. His booking is facilitated by a handler named ‘The Hub’ working for ‘The Org’ who pays his credit cards, etc., and he can’t betray them because he never remembers anything.

He checks in with ‘The Hub’ almost compulsively through a phone number he doesn’t know how he knows. The Taskmaster wasn’t always like that. Prior to the change that enabled him to mimic and find new employment teaching bad guys how to be bad, he was an agent for SHIELD.

One of the more interesting villains in Marvel never left SHIELD. He just doesn’t know it, and he checks in with his wife as he always did.

The Taskmaster of Black Widow is said to be a mimic but is programmed via cybernetic interface like the Winter Soldier with a brain implant. How that is supposed to work in the middle of a fight is never explained. There is no character, no motivation to understand. It is a robot with some biologically human parts.

The writers of Black Widow took a highly capable, interesting character and replaced him with a less capable, one dimensional character with the same name.

Is BW 10x better than justice League or just 9x? While Marvel might misfire and not have a great movie, I have yet to see a good DC one. I guess WW1 was decent, soooo hawwtttt.

Black Widow is much better than Justice League. Even if it doesn't crack my top-10 Marvel movies, it was entertaining. I especially liked Florence Pugh's Yelena. I'm mostly unhappy with what they did to Taskmaster. I'm far from alone in that.

As for good DC movies other than WW, I'd put The Dark Knight up there.

Pretty good list.
So many good movies in that avengers franchise. It's quite a marvel what they accomplished. I liked pretty much every movie in that universe and loved quite a few as well. Infinity war was also my favorite of them all.
Thanos is easily the best villain of all time imo. In fact, I think he was probably my favorite character in the entire franchise.

Do these even count anymore? These feel like such a different universe and time. BB and DK can rival anything from Marvel. Although, DKR sucks. It's a 3 hour slog that if you watch today, you just need to admit it sucks. It has maybe 3 minutes of Batman in a 3 hour slog of blah.

Do the old Toby McGwire spiderman movies still count?

Dark Knight ftw.

Joker (this version) is the GOAT.

Periodt.

Thanos was too powerful. And the big problem with marvel is everything devolves into a fist-fight. This is why I think the Joker (DK version) is the GOAT villain on film. It wasn't about can we figure out how to punch him hard enough to draw a drop of blood. The difference was when Batman wanted to punch him and he said "you have nothing you can do to hurt me" and they had to out-think him.

Of course at the end Batman had to punch him some, but that wasn't the crux of it.

So to me, Joker is the GOAT. At least Ledger's Joker.

As for this thread, I never read the black widow comics. Read a couple and found them underwhelming. So I had no frame of reference for taskmaster if that is what they were supposed to be called, the movie never clarified that very well

But I enjoyed the movie. If course it did the normal marvel stuff with absolutely ridiculous scenarios that no one could ever survive just being another day in the office for the heros.

But I liked it overall. Not in my top 5 marvel movies but probably in the top 10.
