What's new

We all love Favors, but...

I've honestly thought Favors would be traded for the past two or three years and I thought once his contract was up there was no way we would re-sign him. Well, he still hasn't been traded and we did in fact re-sign him. I'm done listening to any rumors involving Favors. I'll believe it when I see it.

Trading favors will help us in the regular season and hurt us in the playoffs.
I think the exact opposite.

In the season, Favors gives us much needed depth and continuity. He allows for Gobert to rest more and is there for the long haul. He is a stabilizing force in the lockerroom for the long season.

In the playoffs, Favors and Gobert don't play together against good teams that go small. And Favors becomes a massive offensive liability. His main value is if Gobert gets hurt or in foul trouble. Favors is good for one good game a playoffs but is often a non-factor in the other games.

Trade or not, Favors really needs to get more post-up and mid-range opportunities. He's looks like he's back to being the 16PPG player that he was a few years ago, yet we continue to let our other guys who are poor shooters jack up 3s all day. I think there's a legit argument that Favors should be our 2nd option on offense right now.
I agree that favors should get more looks on offense while he is on the court

We've been 'knowing' he's getting trading for the last 3-4 years... and he's still on the team and doing his thing.

I didn’t even know he had surgery... I hated the pick at the time... it looks worse every day.
Why don't you sig "I hated the Bradley pick at the time" so we don't have to hear about it anytime Bradley talk comes up. Saves you the trouble too.

Because all I am here for is talking **** about tony Bradley... or because his name was brought up and it caused additional grief... jebus man we are here to discuss jazz and jazz related topics... didn’t realize this was off limits.

Fav is our most underrated and disrespected player. He is basically our third or fourth best guy. Go back and check, we couldn't have knocked out LAC or OKC without him. His fit with Gobert is fine. Our system needs a PG that can shoot.
Favors did have one monster game in each of those 1st round series. However, look what he did against Houston last year and Golden State the year before in the 2nd round against a high quality opponent:

Against Houston - 28 points and 14 rebounds in 90 minutes over 5 games.

Against GS - 13 points and 15 rebounds in 42 minutes over 4 games. And remember he said he was a 100% when interviewed after the series so no injury excuses.

Favors is an awesome dude and a good player but that doesn't mean he stays on the floor against great playoff teams who can go small. He is 100% right now and he plays less than 24 mpg and people call for Crowder to start.

Favors went from a good mid range shooter to a bad corner 3 shooter. I wish they used him in the midrange a bit more when he's playing Center and Gobert is off the court. I don't think it works as well when they are both on the court though. Maybe he lost that shot. His FT have been horrible this year.

Yep. He is shooting 59% in spite of poor 3 pt shooting. He needs to stick to his strengths.

If Favors can turn into Blake Griffin or Kevin Love, do it. Otherwise, Favors should be a Jazz man for the foreseeable future.

I personally think Udoh can do almost everything Favors does as our backup C, but Udoh just rots on the bench.

Favors should be traded because his minutes at PF can be upgraded and Udoh can take his C minutes.

Udoh??? It's obvious that you don't pay attention to any other team in the NBA outside of the Utah Jazz and you obviously never have. There is a big reason that Ekpe Udoh has either signed with and/or been traded 6 different times with 5 NBA teams (Golden State Warriors twice) over the course of his 9 years in the NBA. He is no Favors at all. Not by a long shot. His defense isn't bad but much softer than Favors. He also doesn't have the offensive skill set that Favors has. Not that Favors is elite in any category, but Udoh is liability.

At PF, I agree with you 100%. At C for what we ask of that position in our offense and defense, I think Udoh is just as good. Favors is definitely the better overall player, but I don't think the drop off is that big at all when backing up Gobert.

Upgrading Rubio is more important than upgrading Favors. Neither one will be easy to accomplish as those are NBA starter level players.

I don't really have anything to go off, but I think Favors can keep improving so long as he dedicates himself to it. Besides being able to get tips and watch Kyle and his practice regime will help. (as well as tips from Joe).

I think Favors is worth keeping so long as he is happy in the role, plays hard and keeps improving.

Either way I prefer Favors shooting form over Exum's or Rubios.

After watching parker play, I wouldn't trade favors for him. Parker looks out of shape and will probably be playing for a minimum after this contract. Really the only players we could of got were Mirotic and Bel
