We have to have Harden

This guy is one of the coolest players I have ever watched play. He is so good for his age. Very crafty player.
If we want to be a really smart team, like the Spurs, we need someone like him.
He is a perfect team player along with being a closer. He comes off as really smart. He is only 22. I think his ceiling is high
OKC should be going to him and through him so much more. Their team is so much different when he is controling things

I am fully ready to offer the max to him.

Did you see that move by him midway through the fouth, down the middle of the lane? (sorry I know, not too descriptive)
He has some crazy tricks with the handles. He seems to get anywhere he wants, when he wants. I think his moves are only going to get better too.

I would want him to play our point. He can easily play point guard IMO

What do you think?

Am I too high on him?

I am high on him as well. He is a max player and we need our you studs to step up next season and show Harden how good this team can be.

The team USA practice squad includes Harden, Hayward and Favors. It is the beginning of something great.

I would love that. Harden and Hayward can share duties playing point, and switch guarding, when appropriate.

Westbrook needs to just step aside and let Harden run things

Hayward can only dream of being as good as Harden is now. And neither can run a point, though Harden could be a better Brandon Roy which is almost the same thing.

Harden can play point.

OKC will not let him go. They're better as their Big Four, Collison, and riff raff (rookie contract players, vets that have played past their big paydays, and D-leaguers) than they are with slightly more/better role players. But that means Perkins is gone. And they won't miss him. There aren't worse trades that I can think of than the Green/Perkins trade because it was a net neutral or net negative for both teams, but that's a tangent.

Back to the point, OKC would be absolute fools to let Harden go, and they didn't get to where they are by being anything less than brilliant (with a nice helping of luck, but no one was that high on Westbrook or Harden, let alone Ibaka).

NO, he is NOT a max player. He is awesome though (not the second coming of MJ that people here think, IMO). Not worth max, no one has any clue at all how he would do as THE MAN. He pretty much plays in OKC with no pressure as he is the 3rd cog, some say maybe 2nd.
HUGE dif than he would be here when he would have to be far and away the number 1 guy. Alot of money to throw at him to hope he could do it.

Maybe not, but someone will offer to pay him like one. With two guys being on max contracts next year and a more punitive luxury tax on the horizon, I'm pretty sure the Thunder won't keep their Big 3 together for too much longer if they don't win a championship this year or next. My guess is that they would trade Westbrook before Harden.

He is the third option behind the best scorer in the NBA and one of the best PG scorers around playing primarily against backups. I don't think he has proven himself a max guy quite yet.

Harden can play point but only in spurts. He's essentially a Ginobili clone. He was actually quoted pre-draft saying he heavily followed Manu Ginobili's game and tried to model his own game after Ginobili's.

Ginobili is a playmaking 2 guard who can play the point, but not as a 1st option. You still need a true point guard.

I love Harden's offense but he couldn't stop Manu which is just as important in my book. I agree with you I don't think he is a MAX guy. I think the number one option on your team is a MAX guy and then possibly the number 2 guy. When you are the number 3 guy then I think you get paid very well but not the MAX. Some teams (the bad ones) sometimes don't have a MAX player.

I highly doubt OKC will let him go but being the man is a lot different than being the third option. I would love it if the Jazz were able to get him.

LOL - no he can't. Being able to bring the ball into the half court and playing point are two different things.

The only thing that might stop Harden from playing point is him guarding points. But since when have we had someone who can guard pg's? I would just assume put Hayward on the pg's. The guy can guard them.

But Harden for sure can play pointbon offense. If you dont think so, you arent watching. Infact, OKC goes to him to run offense a lot. And they are at their best when he does.

What are you saying that holds him back?

Because I think he has the tools, to do so.
