What's new

We HAVE to make a trade.

Suns aren't making a trade... they are just saving some coin. If Canaan isn't playing they can just release him (his deal was unguaranteed) and they are now at the roster minimum. Everyday they don't have that extra guy Sarver saves a few pennies. I'm 95% sure that is what the release is about.

I understand a release for financial reasons, but they could have done that in another few weeks. He was still playing for them. Doesn't make much sense to drop a guy like that when that guy isn't hurt, a team cancer, etc. Igor just praised Canaan recently.

My feeling is that they are looking at:
Fultz
Hill - Cavs are on record saying they would trade him
Rubio - if Igor likes him enough and they give enough
Rozier
Wall

If Miami keeps losing, I bet they switch to tanking before long. They are about $6 million over the luxury limit.

Would anybody be interested in Olynyk? I think he would be an upgrade to Favors especially on the offensive end. He is shooting 34% from 3 on 3.4 attempts per game. He would space the floor pretty well for us. I'm also interested in Justise Winslow. He's one of those all purpose type guys who would be even better off the bench. He shot 38% from 3 last year. Still only 22.

I wonder if we could send some combo of Burks, Bradley, Thabo, Bradley and 2nd rounders. Sure we would sacrifice some summer cap space, but we might could get two useful players for 4 not so useful players. Miami could get very close to or under the luxury limit.

Absolutely. He'd be a great fit next to Gobert, fitting in the mold of good ol Memo. Price tag is worth it/

Korver coming back to Utah

2 second rounders

Some moron was on here earlier talking about how we won't do ****... what an asshat.

Nothing major is going to happen until the 15th of January at the earliest.

The best the Jazz could do now is get a vet on a team that decides they want to full embrace tanking. A lot of teams are doing well right now though, so I dont know who'd that be.

Are the Cavs realistic and not asking too much for Korver?

Would the Suns move off of Ariza?

Edit* Ariza is probably January 15th as well, so nvm*

Those are the only two real possibilities I can think of off the top of my head.
Like I said...

I like Burks, but if we're being honest, he's like a bigger version of Monta Ellis. He just doesn't have the competitive drive to match his physical talents.

Damnit see this is what you get when you ask for a trade, damnit damnit damnit.

I like Korver fine, I just liked Burks and the two 2nd's more, it always feels like the Jazz come out on the worse side of almost every one of the few trades they do (when involved players not draft day picks).

The Jazz want to play in free agency this summer. This move helps the Jazz's credibility a bit, imo. They need to make the playoffs.

The Jazz were going to lose Burks this off season, and he hasn't been consistent enough to make a difference this year. Now with Korver we have a bonafide shooter, and we probably have space for guys like Exum and Royce to go to the rim. Getting anything back for Burks is a win, imo.

Absolutely outstanding move. For once, DL makes a move early.

I feel like this board's discussion picking Lindsay's record apart should get most of the credit.

It speaks of desperation to me. He sold the millers on tanking and taking on bad contracts to assemble talent. The talent all sucked, he let his best player walk for nothing and now he has spent the last asset in the cupboard on a short term gain trying to get the team into the playoffs.

The Jazz were making the playoffs before this trade.
