What's new

Welcome back to Salt Lake - Mo Williams

Everyone thinks that this move means Harris is for sure gone. I'm not so sure.

yeah, which is the puzzling part. and don't get me wrong, i like harris more than mo, i just think this deal made the most sense if we also had something in the works to get some value out of devin.

the fact that his agent called around the entire NBA to see if anybody else would give him a multi-year deal with that type of money and STILL opted into this deal says that, yeah, he's overpaid.

but beyond that point... this trade couldn't happen without the jazz, and usually in those types of situations, a team gets compensated for bringing their TPE/cap space to the table. odom-for-mo works straight across, but since dallas' whole motivation was to dump LO's 8.2M salary, that means LAC needed a place to dump some salary. regardless of how over/underpaid mo is, the jazz still did both the mavs and the clips a huge favor here.

I take it you don't like Mo Williams ?

I think they were trying to get assets to trade for Dwight Howard. Dump Lamar and others, trade for Howard and ask Deron to come aboard at a bit of a discount in order to compete for a championship in his home state.

or....

Well, if you look at the games Harris and Williams miss with injuries, it could work out. But both want to be starters going into contract years so they get a nice multi-year deal in 2013. I think this means Harris will be shopped hard.

I wonder if there is any other player that will be included like one of Dallas picks from last night? I also wonder if there is a side agreement on the table between Utah and Dallas that if Dallas doesn't land Deron Williams than Devin Harris gets sent to Dallas? Or maybe Devin goes to Toronto if they don't get Nash?

nah, i wouldn't say i don't like him. i'm not as ga-ga as the rest of the board, but he does some nice things. fact is, his agent would have opted out if there was a huge market for him in that price range, and there wasn't.

so instead we get a guy with great range on his shot, which is certainly something we need. he rarely attacks the basket, doesn't set other players up to score, and doesn't get to the FT line, but if you have two PGs of the harris/mo caliber, i think you can compete most nights.

You would want Mo as the only guy on the 3 point line strong side when Jefferson has the ball on the post rather than Harris, that's for sure.

I agree with you for the most part. I don't absolutely love the deal but don't hate it either. I think Mo will be motivated to land a new deal as will Harris. That could be a bonus.

Stephen A defending Odom is just stupid. Odom was as interested in Dallas as other guys are interested in Kloe.
Nah. I agree with Stephen. I'm not an Odom fan, but he went through a lot last season. As someone who has dealt with depression, I know how debilitating it can be. It's a fine line separating good players from end of the bench players in the NBA. Odom's mind clearly wasn;t in the game. But put him back in familiar surroundings, one year removed from all his personal problems and I think he can resurrect his game.

The Jazz have 4 guys in the last year of their contract this year. We will have 4 guys playing their asses off for a new contract.

There is people who have depression problems, then there are people who can't play basketball just because they aren't in LA.

But yet he still destroyed us... Now we let depressed people that marry fat hookers destroy us??

Right now it's Harris, Williams, Bell, Carroll, Millsap, Jefferson, Evans. More than four.

Didn't really count Bell and Evans, as they won't be playing much. Didn't think about Carroll though, he played hard last year to even get on the team, so it will be more of the same.
