I've already prematerialized a verz of his jerz. It's sweet.

He totally deserves his own welcome thread.

A game like tonight proves why we need a player like Derrick Favors (6'10", 250 lbs). Our inability to stop players like Dirk Nowitzki has hurt us forever. Personally, I think that Derrick is just what we need at the PF position. Paul Millsap simply cannot guard long and athletic power forwards. He is too short. However, I think that Millsap would be great at the SF position. I want Favors to start next to Jefferson w/ Kirilenko off the bench at PF. Andrei would give us great bench scoring and overall play. Hopefully Devin Harris is an adequate replacement for Deron at PG. I want this lineup:

PG: Devin Harris, Earl Watson, Ronnie Price
SG: Raja Bell, Gordon Hayward
SF: Paul Millsap, C.J. Miles, Jeremy Evans
PF: Derrick Favors, Andrei Kirilenko, Jeremy Evans
C: Al Jefferson, Kyrylo Fesenko
 
If you're looking for Favors to stop a guy like Dirk forget it.

But the sad fact is this team just can't board - especially their bench. Favors will probably spend this season and next coming off the bench, grabbing rebounds, bothering shots in the lane, getting put-backs. Something this team has none of.

By the time he's 22 he'll be a starter and a legit double-double guy. I really think the skys the limit with this kid.
 
Favors could be a playa or he could be the next Marvin Williams. We do need length at PF and better rebounding. Millsap was an absolute beast when he came off the bench. I'd love to see him eventually be the veteran who leads the 2nd unit.

What I hope we now see is Hayward and Favors - and to a leasser extent, Evans - get a lot of playing time. Forget the playoffs. Jazz are better off doing player development and getting another pick in the 12-14 range.
