What's new

Well Game 1 coaching fail for Ty

none of them can defend Parker. Rondo on the other hand could.

All the Rondo apologists can go away now. He just cost his team the season. They are all prima donnas, but none have cost their team like Rondo has. Boston may never do anything again and it's all because of Rondo. There is a reason why Ainge tried to trade him, and it's not because he is really, really good. The guy is a cancer.

Give me Deron, you can have Rondo literally ruin a team.

p.s. I blame last year on no defense, black hole on offense more than I blame Deron.

Didn't that black hole have 4 assist?

How did Rondo ruin the season for the Celtics? He was the only one who showed up for them yesterday.

So far as Howard, not only did he take ill-advised shots, as he has all season, but he wasn't into the game mentally -- two lazy entry passes for turnovers and baskets on the other end, failure to react in a loose ball situation on at least one play, and just looked like he wasn't mentally ready to play (except one time he got an offensive rebound). Let the guy sit. The Jazz started out well and could've built a lead in the early going if Carroll rather than Howard was playing.

Why dis Carroll? He's playing well, hustling and making a contribution. In any case, he's the only decent option we have unless we play the big lineup.

As predicted, Harris gets absolutely torn to shreds by Parker. Not surprising, I know. We need a new PG next year.

This right here is funny. Parker was getting 3-5 screens per offensive set for the Spurs. There is not a PG in the league that could stay with him through that. It was the bigs that got torn apart by Parker. Not Harris.

And I'm not even a Harris fan.

Millsap, Jefferson and Kanter were absolutely horrendous against the PNR.

Not really seeing where Corbin drastically ****ed up today. Starting Howard is questionable, but I understand the reasoning behind it. It was a gamble, and didn't pay off. Will he continue to roll the dice?

The lineup that carried us into the playoffs played almost no meaningfull time together. Harris, Hayward, Millsap, Favors and Jefferson. Played their 1st minutes in the 3rd quarter when the Jazz went on a run. Then Jefferson comes out and they push the lead back over 11. By the time they were all on the floor together again the game was pretty much over. That lineup was -2 (according to somebody else in this thread). It was our best lineup yesterday and should be used more often.

We are very unlikely to win this series. But it would be nice to know if that lineup can hang with some of the best teams in the league. If your going to lose. Go out playing the lineup that got you there. -2 against the Spurs in that game is not bad. They were hitting some tough shots.

First, I was talking about Al last year. While I still don't like him, he has improved drastically, especially the last month.

Second, I was assuming Rondo was getting two games. It looks like he will only get one. Still, I wouldn't take him over Nash, Dragic, or Deron. He doesn't fit as well as those guys would.

This. The rules make it very tough to guard someone like Parker on the perimeter. When a defender has to run through 2 or 3 screens on every possession it's almost impossible. Harris needs help.

Playing the league's best record without a single All-Star... blame it on Ty.
Jazz offense wouldn't do dick... blame it on Ty.
Harris dribbles while Parker dares him to attack Bonner or Hayward holds the ball for 12 seconds on the arc... blame it on Ty.

Jazz starters weren't doing a damn thing and Ty had the balls to put in his 4th string lineup.

I only got to watch a few minutes of the fourth. Was San Antonio's defense falling off our pg all game or just in the 4th? Harris clanked a couple of 3's just when the Jazz had closed it to about 10 pts. His defender was no-where close. Good strategy by Pops (the big jerk) cause Tinsley and Harris aren't really a threat as spot up jump shooters.

Coach Corbin can't make Harris start making 3pt shots, but can make adjustments for that.

Parker played Harris to the inside and gave him all the baseline he wanted. He couldn't (wouldn't) do anything so Ty put Tinsley in, who attacked from the opposite side of the floor and into the center. Harris played scared and the offense suffered.

Why is Howard getting any minutes? I think I saw him make one productive play out there.

strill 16 minutes too much.

how mayne minutes did howard play during the great runs.

You realize Carroll is the other SF right?

You guys are acting like the Jazz have a chance against this team. The Jazz just aren't that good. Where have you all been his year?

Pretty much how I feel. Even though I think we could easily take both our games at home just because we are drastically different home/road team. We are as competitive as the Golden State Warriors on the road, and as good as the Thunder at home.

Yeah, I love the people who think we have any chance against the Spurs. They are almost unbeatable this year when all their main guys play. Wish we had a pick.

Look, I don't want to be a downer or anything, and I love upsets as much as anybody, but the Jazz winning this series would be a huge upset for a reason. If Tyrone Corbin's biggest mistakes were playing a guy with the second most playoff experience 16 minutes instead of some improving D-League scrub and playing the team's leading scorer too much, then that should tell you everything you need to know about where this team is at. You know, if barely scraping into the playoffs wasn't a good enough hint.

Just because this team is probably going places, doesn't mean we're already there. I was frankly surprised that the Jazz kept it within 10 points as late into the game as they did. And that's not a knock on the Jazz, the Spurs are just a truly fantastic team and probably the worst matchup for the Jazz. I will be satisfied if the Jazz just don't get embarrassed.

And I really hope everyone with the Jazz have their thinking caps strapped on tight, because they will rarely get such a good opportunity to learn from an opponent on how basketball should be played.

...obviously, what he did in game 1 didn't work. So you have to try something different. Howz about benching Howard and starting whomever?
