Western conference semi-finals: Game 1 — Jazz @ Rockets 4/29/18 1:30 pm MST

God he was deadly with that today
There were several times where I felt like "Ok, the defense is going to lock in, the Rockets will miss some shots, and the Jazz will go on a run to get this under 10" but then Harden would hit a step back 3.

Can I just say I called Burks sucking a dick?

This isn’t his series. We need players who don’t make mistakes out there— Neto and Ex over AB all day

Burks was one of only 2 jazz players who was positive in plus minus.
Burks played 17 minutes and had 6 rebounds which led the team in rebounds per minute played.
Burks had 3 assists in 17 minutes which led the team in assists per minute played.
Burks had zero turnovers in his 17 minutes. Led the team in lowest turnovers (Neto and udoh, who played 1 minute and 8 minutes also had zero)
He got fouled a couple of times and didn’t get the call.
He played good defense most of the time (harden made one of those step back threes in his face but he played perfect defense on the play.)

His shot was off no doubt though.

I hope Donovan is okay that looked scary

I don’t understand how he could be ok, yet he seems to be.
That looked horrible. As bad as possible.

What a ****** pass by joe

Probably because if you are going to tweak your ankle, it's best done while running (as opposed to landing on it where you get all pressure from the weight). The scary part is when Gordon stepped on it while it rolled, but he did a good job of getting off it quickly.

Not here please. Maybe don’t vent about the jazz at all and be happy that we have a coach of the year candidate, dpoy, roy, got the 5th seed and beat okc in 6 in round one. It’s all gravy at this point. Houston is better than the jazz. It’s ok. The jazz aren’t there yet and I think we all know that.
A whole heaping pile of THIS. We just played a team with last years MVP and our rookie was the best player on the court. Our starting lineup for this series includes two rookies and two undrafted players. People need to get some perspective, our future is bright and this season was a resounding success for a really good team, regardless of how the next series plays out.

A.) Rockets played their game and the Jazz let them. Can’t do that. Have to dictate tempo, physicality and tone.

B.) Switching everything was a bad idea. They basically got the mismatch they wanted and everything was super easy. Totally different game if they don’t give up 30+ in both the 1st and 2 quarters.

C.) Jazz weren’t physical enough. They have the size to play bully ball, but tried to out finesse and out shoot the Rockets. That won’t work. If feels like they’ve been super passive ever since that game against OKC with all the technicals.

D.) Hack Capela? Get the ball out of Harden/CP3’s hands and put Capela at the line over and over again. He’s shooting under 70% on 9 attempts per game and averages 13 points per game. That’s a much bette strategy.

E.) Exum and Burks were not good today. If Rubio is out, I’d prefer to see Mitchell, Jingles, Crowder, Favors and Gobert start. Get them to switch Harden/Paul onto any of Gobert, Favors or Crowder and then bully them inside. Force their stars into foul trouble . Then use Jerebko, O’Neale and Neto off the bench.

F.) Hopefully Rubio comes back before the series shifts back to Utah. Need his pesky defense on one of Harden or CP3.

There are a few legit backup point guards out there. If we have the money, Cory Joseph and a couple others sound good.

Cory Joseph isn’t good though. If we had him you would be complaining about him.
Shooting 42% from the field this year and 35 from 3 (32% from 3 for his career). Doesn’t get to the line. 47% efg.
Even his per 36 numbers are bad. 10 points and 4 assists.

I think a healthy GSW team would easily beat this Houston team. I'm like the only one who remembers last year's playoffs.

I’m with ya

Thought Neto looked pretty good. Earlier in the game, when Exum was busy making silly plays and turning the ball over, I kept hoping they would yank him and put in Raul. I wanted Dante to work out, but I think the Exum experiment should be over this summer.

Ya Neto has been quietly good all year long.

That’s better than Exum.
