Western conference semi-finals: Game 1 — Jazz @ Rockets 4/29/18 1:30 pm MST

Cory Joseph isn’t good though. If we had him you would be complaining about him.
Shooting 42% from the field this year and 35 from 3 (32% from 3 for his career). Doesn’t get to the line. 47% efg.
Even his per 36 numbers are bad. 10 points and 4 assists.

Neto numbers in comparison.
46% from the field and 40% from 3. Efg 52%.
Per 36: 13 points and 5.4 assists

He was getting to the rim -- he should've gotten the call on at least a couple of those. Getting to the rim is very important because it causes switches, so it gives you chances to get the offensive rebound and put backs.
Getting to the rim and missing is almost the same as turning the ball over. Especially when a lot of his looks weren't really even that close to being a good shot.

I simply don't understand the Exum hate. It doesn't make sense. The kid had two bad injuries yet he gets out there and plays with all heart. Sure, he is extremely rough around the edges, but he's still young. If a guy like Andre Roberson can be so abysmal on offense but be good enough defensively that his absence caused a huge void for a contender, then I think Snyder is smart enough to harness all the good that Exum can become.

There are times he simply blows by his defender. And there are other times he simply shuts down his offensive counterpart. Yes, he has to get better and more consistent. If both he and Royce can make improvements, we would have the best defending perimeter in the NBA with Mitchell, Exum, Royce and Crowder.

Stay positive and have faith.

Yeah, I don't get why we don't make more use of a player that shoots 40% from 3. That's a head scratcher for me. Also, I think he plays Chris Paul better than anyone on our team.

I want Favors back.

But I’m ready to move on from Exum and Burks. Neither has progressed. If Exum wants to come back for a cheap contract, fine.

I’m eager to see what can be done to upgrade some of our positions. How to Bradley do in the D league this year?

Ricky is either our 3rd or 4th best player... maybe 5th I guess... tough to win when you are already at a talent and rest disadvantage. After the quick turnaround this felt like a game we never had much of a shot in.

I don’t think it’s exum hate so much as commenting about how he isn’t good at basketball.

I feel ya but in all honestly I want exum playing ahead of Neto even to the detriment to the team simply due to youth, upside, and the fact that we need to decide what to do with him this summer.
Probably stupid of me and Neto probably is the better player right now but it it is what it is.

There were times in the game today when he played well. If one can't be objective enough to see that, then there is hate. Sure, he wasn't perfect, but neither was Joe or O'Neal. Should we just bail on them too because they played well and played poorly in the same contest?

I saw joe and O’Neal getting tons of negative comments in this thread

I have higher expectations for a point guard than I do a two-guard. They need to look like they know what they're doing. Neto knows what he's doing and runs our plays better than Exum. Royce is there because he plays good defense and he's still a rookie that has shown flashes of brilliance.

And Joe needs no defending. He occasionally makes a bone-headed play, but he's a seriously good player.

His playoff performance thus far has cemented this assertion.
And I consider that a "silver lining". I want Exum back next year, and if we can get him cheap, then so much the better.

Did he mess up 3 or 4 plays this game? Yes, he did and he looked damn ugly doing it.

Did he play some tough D this game? Yes, he did and he looked damn good doing it.

He also made a nifty hand-off to Favors for a dunk on one of his drives to the rim.

0% concerned about this game, frankly. The quick turnaround was brutal and the Rockets are a team it takes a little while to figure out.

Definitely not the series you want to be without Ricky, we're going to have our hands full. But I expect a much better showing on Wednesday.
