What's new

What 3 things will you be watching for during the first pre season game.

Exited to see how the new guys fit Hill and Johnson

What does Exum look like... less concerned about result... just how does he move etc.

Trey Lyles - How big of a step does he take forward?

Just ready for Jazz Bball tbh... great day.

With the Jazz being legit 12 deep, I would be very surprised to see 13-18 getting a tremendous amount of burn. I think you are just likely to see Lyles, Neto, and Withey getting a lot of time as opposed to the d-league fodder. The final roster is already known and the other guys know that they are here to play on the D-League team.

I probably most excited to see lyles, exum, and hill. In that order.

Im thinking Lyles is going to be more important to this team than any other bench player. Man I sure have done a 180 (or as Karl would say, a 360) on lyles. I hated that draft pick so much and now think he has as bright of a future as any player on the entire team.

Its preseason game 1. I'd be surprised if any starter plays over 25 minutes.

Exum, Exum, and Exum.

His play will decide the long-term future of this team. If he comes back close to the form he showed us in summer league, then the future looks bright. We have a lot of solid players on this team; we just need a competent point guard at both ends of the floor. George Hill can get us through the next 2-3 years, but Exum needs to become one of the league's elite pg's if we are ever going to challenge for a championship.

Lineup combinations are by far the most intriguing thing for me. I think the hardest part of the season for Quin is going to be what is the "right" lineup. With soooooo many lineup possibilities its going to be really convienent for fans, and the coaching staff for that matter, to second guess what they are doing.

I agree, however I can see the primary backups getting about 20 minutes as well which leaves little time for the d-league fodder. Unless, of course the Jazz are up 30. Previously, the Jazz were actually looking for talent from the camp invites. I don't think that they have any illusions about that now. I also don't think the d-league guys would have signed on to such a deep team if they had any other legitimate options. No one is picking those guys up off the waiver wire. They are here to play for the Salt Lake City Stars, and they know it.

True this. Assuming we can resign George hill tho

In general I think there is very little to learn in preseason games and even less this year for the Jazz. The one thing that I think Quinn will be tinkering with and watching for is Chemistry. Who plays well together in what situations. Everything else he needs to know he is learning in practice

I agree. I'm intrigued to see how Hill, Johnson and Diaw interact with our guys. Hoping to see an immediate chemistry, not sure if that's a realistic expectation but intrigued by that. Also interested of course in Exum. Ready to see Hayward as a superhero. LYLES! Hoping Rudy looks better offensively. Really expect Favors, Hayward, Hood and our new veterans to be awesome right away.

1. PG's: Exum's shooting is the main concern. I'm not too worried about him losing a little quickness. Will Hill take some pressure of Hayward?

2. Pace: are Jazz going to take 20-24 secs to put up a shot. Are the guards going to walk the ball up the court?

3. Gobert. He's been underwhelming. He needs to be dominant on defense.

I'd say rotation minutes, but we know we can't ready anything into preseason games.

1. Exum. How improved is he.

2 pace of offense

3. Can Hayward truely be the man. Want to see how big he is. Does added weight hurt or help his game.

He's Too Big, Yo!

No really, he might be too big, yo!

But he also might be just right, yo!

He might need a superhero nickname.

Not much of anything will be revealed in preseason basketball. Teams tend to go about 80%, scouting is less emphasized. Trey Burke was outstanding in his second preseason and looked like PGAF material.

1. How aggressive Exum is. Will he run the offense? Or just take it up the court and pass it to Hayward/Johnson/Burks/Hood and stand in the corner? I wanna see a couple possessions where he just mans up and takes it to the hoop.
2. Gobert's hands. Can he catch the ball? Please, God.
3. Gordon getting more open looks? I've been expecting him to get plenty more with Hill and Diaw but will it really help out?
