What's new

what about Coach Corbin.....

What qualities is he missing another coach could provide?
What makes a good coach? Is there hope for Corbing?

Personally i wonder if Corbin has emotional attachments to the teammates, clouds his judgement, he works from his heart and not his mind.

To find our weakness builds us stronger.

The qualities he's missing that another coach could provide include, but is certainly not limited to, complex knowledge of offensive and defensive systems, mixing and matching personnel, player rotations, moxie, poise and intuition as it pertains to basketball.

What makes a good coach? One who possesses most of those qualities, or surrounds him with assistants who are experts in a particular area in regards to x's and o's and understands how to manage a team. Most importantly, one must be able to have each individual on the team competing as if it were a starved predator inches from prey.

I don't believe there is hope for Corbin as far as being a successful head coach in the NBA. His sample size is well beyond sufficient to come to the conclusion he is piss poor at best and even worse with a team full of talented youngsters in need of steady guidance on how to succeed in the NBA.

I think it is a smarts thing. I think Corbin understands the game, and obviously grew up under the tutelage of one of the all-time greats, but he doesn't seem to have the chops to hang day in and day out, minute by minute on the court. I think he understands the systems, and can apply them, as well as the plays, sets, etc. but as far as adapting in real-time and modifying the game-plan as the situation dictates I think he falls short. It is not a lack of effort; I think he tries hard. But I just wonder if he just doesn't have the mental horsepower to take the group to another level of play.

I've never seen him take a chance. He plays it safe to the extreme.

Hello, Mr. Homie. Would you mind making a post or two showing us your qualifications to make this outrageous accusation?

I'm sure he understands the game -- he should, basketball has been his entire life. But he seems simply to continually make bad decisions, plays the wrong people, doesn't recognize matchups, lacks creativity on the fly. I'm sure he works hard and that's why his destiny is to be an assistant coach for the rest of his career.

Corbin's coaching has been questioned by many "experts" as well. Not that I'm seriously engaging an appeal to authority argument.
