What about Courtney Lee?

He is an unrestricted FA. He is a good 3 pt shooter. A good defender. You might be able to get him for around 4 year 16 million.

The biggest reason? He is somewhat cheap, and provides a little heat on Burks and Hayward.

Your 2/3 now looks like this:

Hayward, Lee, Burks, Williams. That is 4 very good players. This makes Hayward and Burks work for their minutes. It provides competition in practice. It hopefully lights a fire under Hayward and Burks and pushes them to reach their potential a little quicker.

Basically, he is a cheap asset. What do y'all think?

I like Lee and have for the past few seasons. I honestly think that he can play with SG or SF if needed despite being slightly undersized for the SF position. If you can get him for CJ type money you do that immediately.

For the MLE, I'd think about it. He'd be a great 3rd/4th guard for the next 4 years. Solid player, can shoot it.

PG - Mo/Watson
SG/SF - Hayward/Williams/Burks/Lee
PF - Favors/Millsap
C - Jefferson/Enes

That's a really good 1-10.

Absolutely. He's already more proven, an all-round Wes Mathews-type player. Burks seems to have a great ceiling, but he's still an unfinished product, IMO. I'd say the same for Marvin Williams.

I like the thought of going after Courney Lee with the MLE. But there are several other teams interested in him that could offer same amount of money or more.

Utah gives him a chance to start and can offer him a significant chunk of the MLE. I like Courtney Lee. Good shooter and very athletic, which is often not a regular combination. He has playoff experience--as a rookie play significant minutes for the Magic in the NBA Finals.

The sooner the jazz come to senses and know hayward is a bench player then the jazz can make some runs in playoffs.

yeah i mean all he does is post the best points-per-shot on the team, average more assists per game than any non-point guard, defends well without fouling and show a manu-like knack for getting to the basket in the half court or in transition.

I know it's great for teams to have a great bench player like Harden or Ginobili, but it all depends on how deep your team is. If the Jazz got Courtney Lee I'd be OK with Hayward coming off the bench. But I don't think it makes sense calling to just call Hayward a bench player.

Is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking? Four red bars?

Actually not such a bad idea to bring Hayward from the bench, as he can back up SG AND SF, while being a facilitator of our offense... As long as Lee can help Mo facilitating our offense on the first unit...

Lee does not penetrate or get to the foul line. You cannot be a playoff team without having a wing player being able to get to the foul line.

Marvin Williams isn't the best ball handler even though he isn't afraid of contact. He doesn't have the skills to get to the foul line consistently.

Now is Hayward our future star??? Nobody knows that yet. But we do know he has the ability to get to the foul line and that is what he said he will improve on with his exit interview.

Burks can get to the line but he is coming off the bench. They Jazz won't be signing Lee or any other wing players to start over Hayward or Williams. They didn't just trade Harris for a 2 year contract to bench him at 8 million a year. And Hayward is better than Williams right now.
Unless a trade offer comes up to get an amazing talent than those 2 will be starting when the season starts.

Signing Lee doesn't mean Hayward and Williams won't start. It just means they will have to work harder to start.

this.

which is why i think it's silly to dismiss the idea that we need depth. having more than 2 quality players at a given position is a problem a lot of teams would love to have.

Most def. he is gonna earn more than MLE so even though he is perfect fit for the team, no chance for it.
