i remember a year or two ago some of us thought he was a decent talent. i dont really know about the guy except he is athletic and a shotblocker but i see that hes been waived by the nets. whats his whereabouts and could we sign him to a min deal? maybe hes learned his lessons and will cut his attitude ****

If I were more comfortable about Sloan (or the coaching staff in general) being able to integrate players with behavioral issues, I say yes to Sean Williams. (Then again, how much more of a 'challenge' is he than Fesenko?)

Maybe Whaley, Snyder, Giricek, Amaechi, Arroyo, and even Ostertag would have done what they did elsewhere, but they really didn't gel in Utah.

Arroyo is an example of a player who didn't seem to have as many problems yesterday, although he resisted an amusing probable cause with the law.

As evidenced by the re-signing of Raja Bell, Sloan does better with players who are motivated in the first place, which is unfortunate because Utah, as a small market, would really benefit from a coach who can foster development. Millsap and Matthews are examples of players who seem to have mostly develop from their own motiation.

Sean Williams is listed at 6'10" 235, which is a good size for defending Odom. Not sure about Gasol--or 250-pound-plus bigs.

If you thought that Fes was a limited scorer, SW scored at an even slower rate last season; a bit better overall.

(Not adjusted for legit shot opps/touches where the player might or might not have been open.)

If we fail signing/trading for a shot-blocker and Williams is still a FA, I wouldn't mind giving him a chance, or signing him to a 10-day during the season.

Sean Williams is only an inch taller & shorter in wingspan than Jeremy Evans.... so I'd rather have Jeremy Evans, given Williams' troubled past.

Not sure the guy is 6'10" in the first place, but we have enough 6'9" 6'10" guys. We need somebody to matchup with guys like Ming, Bynum, Lopez, and Howard. Fes is certainly better suited for that role.

I watched him during summer league this year, he played for someone in Las Vegas, forgot who. He did pretty good the games I saw. Pick him up.

Former first round pick, good shot blocker, good energy guy, and could probably be had at the minimum. Sounds like he's worth giving a shot.

I would like to see the Jazz give him a chance, at least if Fes doesn't come back. LAL 'reformed' Ron Artest; maybe the smiling, happy people of Utah can 'reform' Williams hehe

It's a shame the old board crashed, because we had the exact same thread last year.
I vote we fill out our roster with Sean Williams, Rashad McCants, Gerald Green and either Bonzi Wells or Kirk Snyder. These guys were once thought to be talented players so they have to be worth a shot.

I think we should try to get Chris Washburn while we are at it. :)

Ya, we should collect the rejects of all the garbage teams.

Your hyperbole is amusing, but nobody is saying to fill the team with malcontents.

Oh, and BTW, the Fakers took on some dude who went by the name of Tru Warier and who, after joining the team, went on to play some important D and even make some clutch shots in the playoffs.

And Boston took on an aging whiner in 'Sheed Wallace, who was a help when Perkins got punked but was a bit too slow to be a full replacement.

I just wish that Sloan and the Jazz had a track record of being able to take on behavioral rejects and make them happy producers.
(They've done great with draft rejects, but this shows more drafting/signing acumen than coaching/development skill.)

Utah's history suggests more of the opposite (Giricek, Arroyo, etc.). These aren't cornerstone players; but Artest probably wasn't, either.

You are not seriously comparing Ron Artest and Sheed to Sean Williams are you?
