If we get Williams, then I really want Biyombo at #12 because I think we'll need a strong frontcourt behind him to mask his poor defense. And Favors and Biyombo may just be able to do that.
What has Kanter done for you to claim Knight is a huge drop off? Think about this statement. What has Kanter ever done to claim he will be a star in NBA? There are a lot of guys out there who have good range, are strong, are big. Hell, go to NBDL, and you will find plenty of guys with good skills. That's not how you evaluate a player. You evaluate a player on how he was able to showcase these skills against serious top notch competition. And Kanter never played against half decent competition. His Euro accomplishments (U18 MVP showing) was eclipsed by Koufos, and every year there is several MVPs in Junior tournaments overseas. It's just not that significant. Knight is a huge drop off from Kanter? While Kanter was sitting on the bench for Knight's team, Knight, as a freshman, led his team to final 4. Yet Kanter, who has not done jack ****, is a significant upgrade? If Kanter is so great, you must have though Koufos should have gone #1 overall. Give me a break. You gotta guy who did absolutely nothing against any sort of decent competition, and you are proclaiming him the top of the draft? Because he played well against scrubs over a year ago (and not even as good as Koufos did). That's just ridiculous.
Well, there's the eye test + the player's resume. Then you gotta project their transition to the NBA from that. It's gambling. People who are down on Kanter have reasons for that. His NHS record and other accomplishments don't support what they see in him, so they don't consider these accomplishments valid. Perhaps he failed their eye test. It's not like he's Dwight Howard.
I have my reasons for being down on Knight. We both could be right or wrong. We both have things that have formed our POV. I just keep going back to my principle that when you have a top 5 pick you don't spend it on a PG unless there is no question it's the right pick. Knight doesn't inspire that confidence in me, so my principle says I have to go with the guy that has size.
Borchardt, Bowie, Oden, ....
Gamble "big" doesn't always mean it will pay off. But that doesn't mean you always lose. Bigs are a premium. Guards aren't. It's a gamble. And this year you're not missing out on a stud like MJ. It's Brandon Knight, who has plenty of warts of his own. So if Kanter is a loss then you're out Brandon Knight. So what. To shoot for the value of a Al Horford you risk very little.

Clears throat - Borchardt the great center for the Jazz had bigger size than Kanter. Wink.
Me myself and I are still thinking Williams not Knight at 3. Like I have posted many times if we don't get Williams trade down a couple of spots for Knight and get another pick in next years draft.
Totally agree with Williams making us weaker on defense. And, what is to make us think that Hayward and Williams will be synergistic on offense? I see Williams as a black hole and would much rather have the ball in Hayward's hands for playmaking. In my mind, Kanter plus Singleton is a much better move.
i would trade them both for next year's top 5 pick in a blink of an eye, but not in 2011. I want Barnes, Miller or Gilchrist.
