What's new

What are the minimal accomplishments needed this season to satisfy you?

For me, it's:

1) 50 wins
2) Win a first round series and win one game in the second round

At this point in the botched rebuild I will be content with 42 wins. I have given up hope for the Jazz. Might as well treat it like Siro does like New York Knicks fans do. It is all casual entertainment, no reason to want to win.

Minimal accomplishments needed to satisfy me. These are on the court only as I have different goals I want from the FO

- 45 wins
- At least a 6 seed
- Competitive in the first round
- Competitive in division
- Hoping for improvement in play from Exum, Hood, Lyles and Rudy.

We get most or all of those I'm okay, but I think we can do even better.

-No specific win total. I just want to see the team (finally) be healthy enough that we walk away from next season knowing what we have instead of uttering the phrase "If we could just stay healthy..." yet again.

-1st round playoff win. Assuming we have a relatively healthy year, this is a deep, talented team. Getting out of the 1st round should be expected, and oh by the way, winning a playoff series and hopefully being competitive in the 2nd round probably is as important as ANYTHING when it comes to convincing Hayward to stay in Utah long term.

-Maybe I'm dreaming of the good old days, but here's a big expectation I have: Restore the home court advantage to SLC. Kinda hard to do when you're a fringe playoff team but as this team grows deeper and more experienced, I'd like to see a mentality from players and fans alike that nobody's getting outta SLC alive. Again, I feel a lot of that will come back when this team becomes a 50-55 win team, but I sorely miss the attitude from players and fans that we are the best home court in the NBA. Golden State and OKC have long passed us by during our rebuild era but is it too much to ask that we reclaim our throne?

Echo this statement , although injuries happen to everybody, but it feels like we are better equipped to deal with them with a deeper roster.

We need that home court dominance again, missed that dearly

Making the playoffs and not getting swept in the first round, tbh. That'll be mega deflating and Gordon will be as good as gone.

I could tolerate losing in 6 or 7 games in the first round, but I really really think we can make a trip to the 2nd. I think that's the goal of this team. Make the 2nd round, try to be competitive. A lot of our players don't have playoff experience.

For someone who is thee eternal optimist about anything and everything on Jazzfanz (that's a compliment btw), I am disappointed in you. Just getting to the playoffs and losing in 6 or 7 games? We should've made it last year despite a zillion injuries and no bench. We're going to be healthy, have an insanely good bench, vets to keep us poised in big games, and can't be any ****tier in close games this year as we were last.

65 wins or bust bitches!!!

Hop aboard.

Choo Choo!!!

1) Not playing the Warriors in the first round

2) Lose a 6 or 7 games series in the first round (or go further, obviously)

3) The Warriors don't win the finals

1) 46 wins.

2) Second round of PO, with one or two wins, depending of opponent.

3) See Exum fully recover, showing confidence and star potential (at least on the defensive end). I also want to see progress by Lyles and Rodney (potential go to scorer). Lyles has already raised my expectations with his play in summer league

If we stay relatively healthy and end up getting swept in the first round then maybe Hayward isn't that great and we shouldn't be paying him the max anyway.

I mean everyone talks about this year being a big year for the jazz to convince hayward to stay.

But isn't it also a big year for Hayward to convince the jazz that they should want to keep/max him?

If the jazz stay healthy and we get swept in the first round then wouldn't that probably mean Hayward isn't good enough to be a max player and the face of the team/franchise? Isn't hill, exum, mack, hood, burks, joe johnson, ingles, favors, lyles, gobert, diaw, withey a good enough supporting cast around Hayward to get to the second round?
If we stay healthy and get swept in round one then why should we think Hayward can lead us to a championship or near championship.

This is a big year for Hayward imo. He has a lot to prove. Show me that you are an all star. Show me that you can take the jazz deep in they playoffs. Shoot better than 35% from 3 and 43% from the field. Earn that max contract.

That's a great way to look at it.

Minimum Expectation:

Play good, watchable basketball. We have shored up our PG spot, and added veterans who can score. It is time to run better sets instead of screen and roll at the top of the key with everyone standing around.

This is basement expectations, y'know.

The homer in me doesn't see any team as a threat other than the Warriors in the western conference.

Not a single one.

No lower than 6 seed(I think they'll battle for 4th and first round HC). At least second round.

I'm sure I am with the majority in my minimal expectations.
Make the playoffs and have a competitive series is the ABSOLUTE minimum, anything less and I begin to worry about this roster.
But really I wanna see this team in the 4-6 seed and pull an upset and get to the second round.
Injuries of course can change my expectations

I like a lot of the positive posts in this thread. Let us all hope that the Jazz realize these hopes.
