What can we get for CJ?

How bad is he? Again, Locke no likey CJ:

CJ Miles went 0 for 7 in the first half. He is shooting below 35% since he scored 40 pts. His shooting percentages for the season are very close to his career numbers and they aren’t good enough. CJ is shooting 41% from the field and 32% from three point range. That is not good enough to be a rotation wing player in the NBA. This was the year with increased time that many of us thought he could take the jump to become a better shooter. Then when it didn’t happen in the early part of the year I thought it might happen when he became a starter. As a starter he is averaging 18 pts but he is shooting 43% and 30% from three, so that just means he uses a ton of inefficient possessions and that is not going to help you win. A real evaluation is going to have to be made on whether or not there is improvement in CJ’s shooting, his current level won’t cut it.
CJ ranks 118th out of 128 qualified NBA three point shooters. CJ ranks 113 of 117 in players who qualify in FG%. Only John Wall, Brandon Jennings, John Salmons and Louis Williams are worse.

Obviously I'm not talking about this year butt pirate.

Then your phrasing is quite stupid. :) Why would you be talking about the stretch run for next year? Their might not even be a next year. I would say something in regards to a female relations of yourself but i will not.

Because the title of the thread is "What can we get for C.J.?" Given the fact that the deadline has passed, any reasonable person can assume that all proposed trades in this thread would be for next year. When the hell else would they be?

The best thing the Jazz can do is not pick up his option, save the cash and move on. Kyle Weaver had been on the team for a couple of days and was able to step in and score 19 from the SG spot. It only took Weaver 48 hours in a Jazz uni to make me honestly feel like he's got more upside than CJ.

CJ has leveled off and all of his "upside" has been achieved. I think it's fair to say he's never going to be better than he is right now. Letting him walk and brining Weaver back on a league min contract for a year is a much better option.

I agree.

time to move on folks.

Along w/CJ, I want AK, Fess, Raja, and Price off this team. Memo too, if we can get anything for him.

We need to build up, not continue with this dead wood.

CJ isnt really a "shooter" though.

If he's not a shooter, what the hell is he? Sure, he's not your protypical spot-up shooter but if we're going to categorize him as one thing, it's as a shooter.

He is a shooter. We need a maker.

He is a volume scorer, and you can really only get away with that as an all-star level player. Kobe, Wade, Mello, AI, guys like that are volume scorers as well, but they are more than that as well.

We do not need a volume scorer. We need someone who has better efficiency and brings more to the table in other areas as well. Time to move CJ for whatever we can get and see what Hayward can do, imo.

I cant believe people on here actually think Weaver is already a better player than CJ, it really blows my mind.

CJ is way more mentally tough than Weaver.
It takes a huge amount of discipline to shoot yourself out of a lifelong slump.

The Jazz and their coaching staff have invested 6 years of their time and money on this guy. SIX years, that's right. And they are still waiting for him to not be wildly erratic. It would be difficult for the Jazz ego to bite the bullet and accept they were wrong about his potential. I wouldnt be surprised if they pick his option. But his rear might be firmly parked on the bench next year.

I dare say, with the departure of Jeff Green to the Celtics, OKC would pick him up.

So, if we're lucky and we beg a little, it'll be like this:

OKC gets:
CJ Miles

Jazz Get:
Washing Machine
Bag of Cheetoh's
Crap filler to make contracts work.

Sometimes terms like "better" are entirely subjective because of apples v oranges comparisons. However, one could make the argument that a player like Weaver doesn't shoot as many or more shots on his bad nights to get out of slumps is better for the team. CJ - for all his talent - is somewhere between an idiot, mentally fragile, and/or plainly selfish. And this is coming from a long-standing apologist/supporter of his.

I think his value is non-lottery 1st, two 2nd rounders or as a throw-in in a deal. A player for player would make little to no sense. This of course assumes the Jazz pick up his option, which ulimately I think is an easy call to make.

I think people would be very surprised how much interest there is in CJ. My hope is the Jazz pick up his option. A player with his talent in a contract year at 3.7 is a very good bet to make. But like every player on the Jazz, he's on the block in the right deal.

I thought that I read, that there was 6 or 7 teams interested in Miles, at the trade deadline. And I really hope Utah picks up his option at 3.7 Million he is a steal (even though he is streaky!) Plus, I think that he does have some up side and who else would you guys wants over Miles?

This. CJ still has upside. It's hard to see it throughout the season, but looking at season to season, he's still growing. Other teams see this and value it at least a little.

But I still think a gutter ball from Ernie McCracken has a better chance of going into the basket than most of CJ's shots.

Its so true. He does keep getting better, then he has those games where he is totally useless and I hate then. Then other times he is just straight up amazing and shows his potential like 20 pts 5 rebs with 4 ast. It's those games that make me a little weary of trading him. And I don't really see a better option for the money or in the long run though FA. Utah will need to do that though the draft.
