Saw a report yesterday about LAL still having interest in Quin. I didn’t bother reading. But I’m curious what we could get back in return. Just simply taking him off our hands would be sufficient, but a nominal return would also be nice. One that would be interesting would be asking for multiple second round pick swaps. Then again, I don’t think we have any second rounders to swap.

If you package him with other things he could juice the return.

I haven’t been able to shake Quin, Mike, and Bogey to the Lakers for the corpse of Westbrook and lightly protected or fully unprotected 1sts later in the decade.

This makes the most sense/is most palatable if the Jazz are nuking it. Which is another reason to just accept what the tea leaves are almost screaming at this point.

Trading coaches gets kinda tricky… it’s only been done once I believe… by Ainge.

I think the most likely scenario is they mutually decide to tear up his contract and he signs a new one with the Lakers.

A future second would be fair imo… he has one guaranteed year left but clearly has eyes for other places. The only scenario I see where he sticks around is he doesn’t sign his extension … and pop doesn’t leave San Antonio and that is the job Quin has earmarked. Because Ryan ain’t gonna pay two head coaches he hangs on to him for a lame duck year until Pop retires.

You do a Donovan deal, Rudy deal, and a deal like this with three different teams and control their draft future… you’d own 4 teams drafts if you include your own. Bet on failure of other teams and it reduces the amount of stress on yourself to have an extended tank. Get a couple good players and end up as a lower seed in the playoffs or at the backend of the lottery and you still have hope to find more star talent.

You do a Mitchell deal, you do a Rudy deal. You do a Bojan deal, you do a Conley deal. You do a deal that reminds you of the best times, you sign a Favors to remind you of the worst times.

That’s gonna be stuck in my head…

Is it possible to get something back if the Hawks wanted him now? I thought I read we still have his rights
Maybe… more likely means Ryan can stop paying him… still weird to me.
