What's new

What do Jazzfanz want to see happen this offseason?

It's been a little boring on here, with the lack of news threads so I thought i'd start a new one that will always get a conversation going.

I'd like to see Utah do some minor moves to help with the rebuilding program. Draft the best young pg (and what do you guys think of Johny Flynn?)

Then with the 12th pick package it with Memo and trade it for Wilson Chandler and Gary Forbes. Can you trade players that have there contracts expire after the draft? If we can I think that would be a decent trade

If we cant get Chandler and Aks willing to sign for 6-7 million for 3 years. Id sign him and then use our picks to add so much needed depth.

Just some idea to get some conversations started.

I hope to see a lot of horrible trade threads, a lot of bad darft suggestions, and some classic off topic threads.

Make it happen!

I'd rather wait to see how the lottery turns up before I can form an outlook w/ trades & S&T proposals.
Plus, I'd be shy trading Memo if Tomic doesn't come over first.

Unless CBA really lowers salary cap Chandler is going to want at least 10 million. Haywood is making around 7-8 million. Remember there is that pesky salary cap.

1) Land the #1 and #2 picks and draft Irving and Williams.
2) Have Corbin unexpectedly resign and sign JVG to coach our young core defense from day one.
3) Tell AK thanks but no thanks.
4) Bring Miles back for one more year.
5) Trade Bell to anyone for nothing back, though picks are welcome.
6) Trade Memo to anyone for nothing back, though picks are welcome. We don't need him eating into Favors' minutes.
7) Sign Fes to the two year minimum. We need cheap contracts anyway and if he can progress like he did this past year, it could be worth it.

I want to see the Rocky Mountain Review.

I want a draft party with some party in it.

I want to see the team make bold moves (like Deron) to define themselves and do less hand sitting waiting (like Boozer).

I want to see proactive moves for basketball, not reactionary money dumps.

I want to see Ty Corbin make this his team. (Push Baseline not middle, 3-pt is okay, two guard front is your friend)

I want to see CBA changes that make the league more competive and games available on more TV stations.

I want to see NBA rule changes that gets rid of the riduclous amount of TV and officials timeouts, I want to lose the advance the ball with a 20 second time-out crap. Let the ball in the cyliner be a live ball, make traveling a violation again.

I want to see the Spurs and Lakers lose early in the playoffs.

I want David Stern to take the NBA to China, and stay there personally to oversee it.

I want Chris Paul to stay with the Hornets.

I want the Kings to stay in Sacramento.

I want the Hornets to relocate to Seattle.

I want Milsap to man up and accept his 6th man role.

I want Fes signed by the Jazz. 3 years, 3 million.

I want Gordon Chiesa to be the VP of scouting and public relations.

I want Jeremy Evans to train with Barry Bonds trainer.

I want to trade Bell for a second round pick.

I want Shelvin Mack.

2) Have Corbin unexpectedly sign an extension for 12 more years and sign JVG to coach our young core defense from day one as our 2nd assistant.
3) Trade Miles to anyone for nothing back, though picks are welcome.
4) Bring AK back for 3 more years if 6Mil/year or less.
5) Trade Bell to anyone for nothing back, though picks are welcome.
6) Keep Memo as a backup C.

Just a few minor tweaks

Need wing help. Don't care if we trade or get it through the draft.

Get rid of Fes. The dude has one decent game for every nine bad games and people love him for some reason. He sucks, time to get rid of garbage like him.

Get rid of Bell. This dude is not an NBA player anymore. Provides nothing positive to the Jazz. A buyout is the most likely scenario and I'm all for it.

A new CBA that helps small market teams and levels the playing field. This will probably require a long, ugly lockout. Would be fine with for a better long term scenario.

I want to see strong draft picks, but I want next seasons team to depend on Hayward, Favors, and at least one of the draft picks more than they rely on Jefferson.

That's not to say I don't want him here, I just want to really enforce to these kids that we have a home for them, and they can be built with.

I do love the myth that is Jeff Van Gundy. He needs to stay where he is, or coach another team. Then the Jazz could have a few more wins.

The myth? Sloan's career winning percentage was 60.3% with a post-season number of just 48.5%.

Van Gandy's is 57.5% and 50.0%.

Given the fact that Sloan had two greats of all-time and Deron and Booze as the 2.0 version, I'd say it's not a reach to think JVG is nearly as good a coach as Jerry.

But you think Corbin will rally the troops and develop them more than he?

Get rid of Bell, Memo, don't resign Price.

Re-sign Watson.

Draft good players or trade the draft picks to make something happen.

I'd be down to sign Wilson Chandler.

I hope Ty comes back with a totally new attitude and makes the team his own. I don't want years and years of what feels like an interim head coach.

Give Corbin a chance. Get rid of Coach Bell, and let Corbin install his own defense and offense. Everything will be back to continuous mediocrity in no-time.

A commitment from the front office to develop young players next season. Hayward and Favors should both be starting. The rookies we draft should be getting serious PT as well. Favors, Big Al, and Hayward is a decent young core to build around. I wanted to add Harris to that core, but I think we all need to see some more of him to really be sold.

Either commit to giving Fes 15 minutes a night or don't resign him. I personally think he makes our defense about 100X better, and only makes our offense 75X worse. Give the guy some time to figure it out. We need him to compete against certain teams. Especially the Lakers.

Let's get some sort of team identity and build our players around it. Up-tempo or slow paced, physical or finesse, rowdy or calm and collected, etc. Right now it seems like we have no identity at all.

I agree with all of this except the part about Fess. He will never be more than the tallest Teletubby.
