There’s been a lot of talk about trades lately. Most of these include Big Al. That seems obvious, but where do we see Millsap? Paul was for sure a top-15 PF, and I would claim he was a top 10 PF, with stats supporting this. He does, however, have his limits. His contract is up this year, so what do we do. Millsap will get a contract starting at $10-12 mil. for sure.

Comparative Contracts/Players (from this year to the end of the contract)
David Lee (5 yrs: $11-15 mil.)
LeMarcus Aldridge (4 yrs: $12-15 mil.)
Kris Humphries (this year: $8 mil.)
Josh Smith (2 yrs: $12-13 mil.)
Antawn Jamison (this year: $15 mil.)
Boozer (4 yrs: 14-17 mil.)
Zach Randolph (4 yrs: 15-18 mil.)

Way to earlier to decide whether or not the Jazz should trade Millsap or extend him. It really all depends on what offers we get for Big Al and how well Kanter improves.

I voted for picks. Either this or try and pair him up for a better player.

Millsap, Harris, Burks for Rondo? (Or is Burks too Dwyane Wade)

Extend him for 8 million a year and tell him he we want him to be a 6th man of the year candidate. If not, trade.

I agree with this. Millsap is a deadline deal decision. It is too early. See what you get for Al. See what your weaknesses are. See what Millsap will resign for. Whatever you do, don't overpay for Millsap. If he wants/or is going to get over 10 million per year, you have got to let him go. You do not want to Memo/Harpring/Starks/AK him. Do not overpay for Millsap. He is a nice player, but completely replaceable.

He would be an outstanding 6th man for the Jazz. Question is does Ty have the ability to make it happen?
If not make the trade. He is a bargain at current price and teams should be more willing to jump at him than Al. May be a better way for us to get a shooter.

I still say we trade him. His stock will never be higher, it would be nice to have him on the bench but that isn't how you improve a team. Right now, in a trade, you can get back what a starting PF is worth. If you move him to the bench, he isn't as valuable.

I hope we can get him to accept the 6th man role. It's not a knock on anyone's skill or not even necessarily minutes. But if we can start AJ and Favors then I think our starters are better, especially considering Al's extended mid range game.

ie: Manu Ginobili

Love Milsap. But the dude is a 8 million player max. NBA, especially post season NBA is about exploiting mismatches. And I don't see how Milsap creates a mismatch starting at pf.

Only as a bench player. We over value Millsap around here. If you look at all the contending teams, they all have a Millsap on the bench. A hard working, dirty work, undersized PF.

I wonder if Millsap and Harris could snag us Pau Gasol. Maybe we'd have to throw in a pick but it gives us a roster spot for a PG (Nash, Dragic) and the Lakers flexibility with 2 expiring contracts (re-sign Millsap @ less). Harris would be a nice back up to Sessions or vice-versa.

I have a tendency to agree, but when you start listing out better PF's, you soon realize he's basically a top ten PF, and as you can see by the salaries of the top 15 PF's, pretty much all of them make at least $10 mil. Paul Millsap will not be back in a Jazz uniform for less than $10 mil. as a starting salary. Thus, I think we should trade him right now, and get something for him unless we feel he's worth the price.

Most of these were done under the old CBA though, so are inflated. The new luxury tax is very punishing, and probably bring Millsap's value to around 10 million a year. I personally think he is worth it, but if KOC can fetch a comparable player, like Ryan Anderson, that addresses our dire need of three point shooting, trading him might be best.

Trade him and another for star, if possible. He is good hard worker, but max 8-9 mil player. That is alot to pay for a 6th man also, which he is...

Unfortunately 1 star is rarely traded for 2, $8M players. Unless there is some sort of issue with the Star. Steve Nash is a star who is part of trade talk. He's 87 years old though. Dirk is a star. He has bad enough knee(s) that he's going to go down hill fast. I heard something on the radio today that DWade could be traded... wow. In this case, it is possible that the best thing for Miami would be two $8 players to compliment Lebron. So maybe there is an option out there, but it just seems unlikely.

Would you trade Millsap (1 year left on current contract), plus the golden state pick, plus our first round pick next year for Dwight Howard (1 year left on current contract)?
