What's new

What do you guys think about the fact the Gordon Hayword is a pro Starcraft II player?

I guess I'm not nerdy enough to get the 'zerg rushes' and whatnot. I just stick to the Call of Duty and NBA 2K series. I guess that classifies me as a 'casual gamer'? Dunno. I'm not into those fantasy games.

I've actually never played it either. I could probably get into it though. Play xbox occasionally - battlefield, gears of war, used to play halo, really like the basketball games but don't own one at the moment. Any recommendations?

You know what's a devastating strategy? I've used it, had my friends use it, and it has been used against me... Mass Marines....

In SC II, they're dirt cheap, can train two at the same time, can attack both air and ground units unlike the other two races' basic units, and have a ton of sweet upgrades. Get the hit point bonus, stimpacks, and a few weapon upgrades, and they can be devastating in mass. Unstoppable if you team them up with Medivacs.

I just destroyed a mission that would normally be frustrating. Anyone remember the mission where you have to collect gas before the Protoss can seal it the geysers? Well, instead of using the stupid Goliath unit that the campaign suggests, just go mass Marines. They'll give the Protoss ground units (especially since they aren't using many advanced ones) and will torch most scouts and void rays before they can even get started!

I can't believe that I used to use tanks and goliaths on that mission.

Just go mass marines. Cheap. Easy. And good.

Ohhhhh if only I could meet this Gordy Hayward... Ohhh the conversations we'd have...

You should start a SC2 discussion thread.

And yeah, I remember the mission you're talking about. Failed that mission like 5 times before I thought of the mass marines thing.

That mission is REALLY hard. I think I have only beaten it once on "hard." As I remember, the Protoss on hard bust out carriers. Which, in the past, just destroyed my limited air units and siege tanks. It always ticked me off when I had the geyser ALMOST done and something stupid would take out my SCV and I had to start all over again....

As long as the Protoss don't go with a lot of Colossi, then I think the mass Marines will work.... And even if they do have a Colossus or two, mass Marines should still be able to take it out...

Another mission that sucked was the supernova one.... Remember that?

Diablo III is coming, my friend.

HOHOHOHOHOOOOOO

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDD!!!

Is it bad to admit that I never beat Diablo II?

I got to hell like 3 different times... To destroy the soulstones... And during those few months I was big time into Diablo, my computer had issues or I'd be transferring data or something and it would crash. the hard drive was really old in that one. the copy I have on my laptop takes me back all the way to the stupid jungle area.

Ugh.

I think I eventually did get back to hell. But.... By that time I had already burned out on the game. Reallllllyyyy repetitive.

Haha don't worry, I didn't either actually.

What class you think you'll use your first time through?

I never played the diablo series....but I really really really want to. What are games that are similar to it?

I used to play warcraft causally, never really liked starcraft for some odd reason. I liked command and conquer and age of empires. The only pc games I can play now for the most part is sim city, shogun 2, battlefield 3, and mass effect series. Definitely wouldn't mind something new. I always wondered....How come there is not a gaming thread?

Was wondering that myself....that's why I suggested that Thriller start one.

In related news, Starcraft 2 has an enormous skill gap.

Never could get into the Starcraft games. Command and Conquer games were more my style
