What's new

What do you want the Jazz lineup to look like next year?

OK, but Fredette has shown to be pretty strong as well (ref: his bench press stats at Combine was 14). Also I can't for the life of me remember the last time Billups dunked the ball.

If those are the only differences between them I can live with that - as I said Jimmer's ceiling is at least Billups.

I'd rather have someone who's a Billups type player running the Jazz than say a erratic Westbrook type player (*cough* Knight *cough*)

Honestly Brandon Knight reminds me more of Billups than Jimmer. Billups played both PG and SG in college and when he was drafted into the NBA. He is exactly like Knight. He can score in clutch situations, he has a great mid range shot and a three pointer. His passing is MUCH better than Freddette's passing and he is a leader. He never took 30 shots a game and he doesn't force the ball. Alec Burks from Colorado is also similar to Billups

There's no question that Knight has a higher upside in this draft compared to Fredette. But how much more of an upside?

I'd rather keep the #3 and pick Fredette at #12. If Fredette can get any near Billups level of play (given that he's not athletic, not a great passer, etc, etc), then he's a steal at #12 and I'd be more than happy with that. Plus we still get someone else at #3.

A-freakin-men. This Jimmer=Billups stuff has me rollin...

Alec Burks can't shoot well, he is nothing like Billups. He is more like Roy (who if you look, had poor outside shooting numbers until his Junior year).

If you think the Jimmer = Billups stuff is funny, TNT said that Jimmer comparison could be Nash. Nash was a scoring guard in college and worked hard to develop his PG skills. Jimmer = Nash would drive the Jimmer haters off the deep end.:)

Both comparisons are a waste of words...

That is kind of the fundamental flaw with all of these comparisons we are making. Most people here seem to be comparing Player X's college game to Player Y's pro game. Wouldn't it be more accurate to compare their college careers?

This. He also has 10 times the chance of hitting the level of Billups.

Nash is a much better comparison than Billups. Great shooter, and not the fastest guy on the court. I would be surprised if Jimmer ever became half the player of Nash. But if he could learn to pass and use his scoring and shooting ability to set up his teamates he could be a legitimate starter in a few years. I still don't want him at 12. He is not ready for that role right now and by the time he is he may be on his 2nd team like Nash was.

Knight certainly has the potential of Billups. I'd say the biggest transition he has to make to the NBA is the physicality. He benched 10 times, so he HAS the strength, the speed, and the wingspan. He needs to KNOW that he can absorb contact and finish .. he can, but it's a shift in mindset.

Jimmer is the anti-Nash.

Right now sure. But if he has any hope of being an NBA starter he needs to learn to pass ASAP. Can he do that? Probably. Will he do it to Nash's level? Almost definintely not.

So how can you say a guy who can't/refuses to pass is a good Nash comparison? Nash minus his passing, leadership, and decision making is a ****** player...

Unless you're saying Jimmer will be a ****** NBA player...which I wouldn't necessarily disagree with...

You do know Steve Nash wasn't the Steve Nash you know today when he came out of college? Damn, Steve Nash wasn't the Steve Nash you know today when he was in his late 20's.

So we're gonna hope Jimmer for some magical reason follow the same path as a player who really didn't even play much like him in college? Nash was more of a passer than Jimmer,

even in college. So regardless of the fact that they weren't that similar in college, and Nash is one of the only players ever to develop so late in his career...we expect Jimmer to do the same? C'mon man.
