What does Dante get in Free Agency?

All depends on what he does in the end of the season... could see him showing some flashes and having a few really good games and getting 4/40. The otherside is he struggles and takes a short term deal. 2-3 years at 5-7M or just the QO.

In my humble opinion:
  • Health the rest of the way
  • Good chemistry with DM & Rudy
  • Elite defense. His injury shouldn't have affected his ability to stay in front of his man
  • Improved 3pt+ ability to shoot off the drible (just like he showed in SL)
  • Averages of 8ppg, 3rpg, 3a on 43%/33%
I'm not sure he will attack the basket aggressively as he may be concerned of getting injured again

I think we see a super aggressive Dante, hes gonna play angry when he gets back. From the little bits and peices Ive seen of him it looks to me like the naive, fun, carefree kid is long gone, these injuries have hardened him.
 
Skipped to the end.....no one (including the Jazz) gives him a 4 year, fully guaranteed deal. And no one pays him $10m or more per.

Dude should get nothing more than 2+1 at ~$7m. We will be bidding against ourselves.
 
I'd be curious to know Dante's feelings about the organization. There are many whining about letting Hood go but in reality I would wager it was Hood who wanted out. If Dante feels he's been slighted with the short leash he may simply want a change of scenery and fresh start. If that's the case you lowball on a short term and if it's all he can get you have trade potential. If he likes the situation and fits well with the team chemistry you give him the 4/40 with a team option. (Assuming he shows something when he comes back.) I really hope he works out and is a good fit. Young, athletic, long and fits what we're trying to accomplish with defense. The last thing I would want to see is problems in the locker room. I feel this is one of the big advantages we have right now is a united group.

It's 7 if he was a starter for the season. The QO for players who didn't meet the starter criteria is equivalent to QO of the no. 15 pick of the draft. For comparable situation look at what Nerlens Noel got(about 4.1M).

An if he plays anything like what he showed last summer, then we have to let him walk because we have to re-sign DM.

The time for evaluation is over. The Jazz need to either lock up the asset for 4 years or risk being "haywardized." I think Dante will be quite amiable to a 4/40 deal and DL will be happy to offer it.

Dante is young; if he shows he can play and stay healthy, then he will get his "big" contract just when he is hitting his prime.
 
Dante won’t get anything long-term. I think we bring him back at a better rate than most think.

Robserson "type". Great defender, very limited offensively. You really dont think Quinn and his "amazing development of youth" can develop him into that?

I dont want to argue (about this) just trying to find common ground or a base line if you will, something we can all work up from.

Unless Exum regressed, he's a better offensive player. I don't know about worst case, but a reasonable case would be Livingston?
 
Any contract less than 4 years is betting for the bust. But if he doesn't bust, then he re-signs elsewhere for big money. This strategy is a loser.

I am so glad DL is our GM.

Ok so some common ground.

At worst he is 70% of Roberson defensively but slightly better offensively (far better FT shooter and driver). I see Livingston but he is probably too crafty offensively.

Livingston $8M/yr at age 32
Roberson $10M/yr

If we beleive the above then $8-10M/yr is probably a fair number.

Thank you, you're right. I shouldn't question the resident cap guy. Well I think that all but assures that Exum won't be taking the QO.
