I'm at a loss how anyone, even the Ty homers, can give him anything above an average score (C).

Corbin lead this team to a double whammy. No playoffs and stunted development for our young players.

I am tired of people giving him credit for "holding a locker room full of free agents together." Nice job Ty, we missed the playoffs and you just gave the majority of playing time to guys who wont be here next year, "high five" idiot. The young players were in a no-win situation considering they were hardly playing and they couldn't say anything or they would be killed by the media.

Agree. Furthermore: 1) Corbin never made an adjustment to his rotations that wasn't dictated by injury. 2) Corbin never rewarded excellent play from Kanter, Favors, or Burks with more minutes. 3) He never held Foye or Marvin accountable for poor play. And 4) his DNPs for Carroll were mystifying. These failures are indicative of coach that doesn't know how to use or develop his players. I would have given Corbin an F, but I felt he deserved a D for having a winning season (in spite of his failures).

F. His rotations and the minutes the young guys got (and conversely, the minutes the vets got) was inexcusable.

How the **** does Marvin Williams average more minutes than Derrick Favors, and how in the **** does Enes Kanter get a whopping 15 minutes a game, and how in the **** does Demarre Carroll get buried to the bench even though he does almost nothing but good things on the court.

I guess it depends on what you value and what the parameters of a good head coach are too.

If it's record, I'd change the grade to a C. Heck, maybe a C+. The Jazz did finish over .500. Not by much, but it's still better than average.

I value watching a team that I've been a die hard fan for nearly 25 years be interesting. And this season was dreadful in that category. Anyone who watched 80 games like I did I ask you this, when you saw the Jazz starting lineup and it continued to be Al/Sap/Foye/Marv or Hayward/Mo or Tinsley or Watson for every ****ing game, didn't it kill your fandom a bit inside? It was so dreadful for me to watch, almost depressing, and this is from someone who routinely watches every game I can for the past 10 years or so and has shelled out the $200 or whatever bucks those past 10 years for League Pass so I could watch every game. This season was the worst, even worse than the season before D-Will. At least that year Sloan put the most promising guys (not that there were any) out on the court.

how can you grade mo an f for running alfense.
dont see how you can give him an f.
he was given no system to succeed.
it was dump it down to al every other possesion. and with the other half do as you please.
so other than his injury mo gets an A.

cus if i was a pointguard and was told to dump it down to al every other possesion.
the other half i would combine hero ball with 5-6 assist.

MO DESERVES an A+.

Yeah, especially when on a 3 on 1 fast break he pulls up for a 16 foot jumper or when he constantly looses the dribble when he's running around on the court. Well it's not like he's a PG or anything...

To be fair, you can't simply give Corbin a single grade since there are multiple abilities/skills that are needed by an NBA Head Coach...that being said here are my multi-grades for Ty Corbin:

Leadership Ability: F
Vision (ability to plan for the long term): F
Player Development: F
Communication Skills: F
Game Planning/Preparation (is team prepared): F
Game Strategy (ability to make in-game adjustments): F
Learning ability (able to learn from mistakes and make improvements): F

D.

He failed to improve our record from last season even though he had a better roster*, and his handling of our young players was simply baffling - he managed to cut Hayward's minutes/game from last season, mysteriously and randomly benched Favors and/or Kanter when they were playing well, started the season giving Burks a string of DNP-CDs and his treatment of Carroll was downright bizarre. The only reason I didn't go for an 'F' is that he still compiled a winning record, and I assume that he was being directed by higher authority to win games.

* while Mo, Marvin and Foye may be cause for much angst on Jazzfanz, remember they were replacing Harris, Howard, and CJ Miles respectively, and in that respect, can only be regarded as an upgrade.

Enes looked like one of those Christian sponsor a child kids you see on TV with dirty water living in some ****hole when the camera cut to him rotting on the bench.... The memory of that frustrated/hopeless face makes me rethink my grade...... I am changing it to an F.

Classic.

F

Didnt develop the young guys, catered to the old guys, still couldn't motivate, lost Paul Millsap, gave the finger to the media and fans towards the end, and all he could ever say was I love these guys. Oh and he went from 8th seed to out of the playoffs.

He failed in literally every aspect.

I'll give him a C. Could've done a lot better, could've done a lot worse.

No offense, but how? We didn't make the playoffs, we barely missed the playoffs which means we get a crap draft pick, he didn't develop the young guys as much as he should have and he hasn't improved one bit as a coach, IMO. He's barely one step better, if that, than Keith Smart, which is pretty pathetic.

Based on the fact that he wasn't the same coach at the end of the season that he was at the beginning. I saw improvement in his coaching styles. I believe that Zach Lowe touched on it much more indepth than I ever could, but there were definite scheme improvements. That's why I gave him a C.

F-. Dude needs to go. He's suddenly gonna turn the ball over to these young guys and become a good coach? He's gonna drive these guys into the ground if we even get lucky enough to see them play.

What does Ty do well? Everyone defending him, name one thing he does well. Or even decent. What is his talent as a coach???? I want a good answer
