What's new

What happens to Jeremy Evans through all of this?

If we take Kanter 3rd, or a big guy 12th... they clearly move ahead of Evans in the rotation, right? I was intrigued by him last year, but am on the fence whether its worth playing him over someone with more skill that we draft.

I love the kid, but you don't factor him into the draft. We'll find out what happens. At the end of the day, he has to make the most of the situation he's placed in, and if the Jazz draft a forward, the pressure's on to get his shot together and as much strength as he can (even more than it already is).

I'm sold. Great post.

This is why you have training camps and such, to see who wins what spot on the depth chart.

Evans will probably never be better than the 8th/9th man on the roster, good for 10 mins or a bit more in case of foul trouble or injuries. But he's the perfect guy to fill that role. Attitude and work ethic are terrific; he's done the Jr. Jazz tour twice now. What more can you ask? Keep him around, sign him to another contract when you can. Every team needs guys like Jeremy to fill out the roster.

Hopefully Evans eats a lot of Panda Express and hits the gym, I think this kid could be pretty good, he's already got one of the toughest plays to defend down pat and can provide some shot blocking which we always need. I think we all will root for him to turn this into a NBA success story.

You can't teach a 35" vertical and 7'5" wingspan, they need to give him a chunk of AK's minutes next season.

Jeremy needs to develop a consistent jump shot, improve his dribbling and gain some confidence. I think he can earn some minutes at the SF position.

^ I see him as more of a SF anyway. He's going to lose that athleticism a bit if he puts on a bunch of weight. I think he could be a really good backup SF as well as a small ball PF. If we get Kanter he becomes a full time SF. If we get Williams he becomes a SF/PF combo guy.

Harris/???
Hayward/Miles
Williams/Evans
Favors/Millsap
Jefferson/Kanter

Pretty good 2 deep rotation. If we get Williams I would not mind Jimmer as a backup PG with that 12 pick. Could also sign Watson or another veteran PG. We would have other players on the team but I think this would be a decent rotation.

Jeremy Evans will deal with this The same way he deals with every obstacle in his way, and that is by dunking on it.

i wonder how good he will be next season, Jeremy has huge potential to play terrific defence.
he gets AK minutes for sure.

I think his max vert is 41"... (there's some other measurements on this page) https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:fBTc7Csbf80J:www.iblhoopsonline.com/documents/Jeremy_Evans_Scouting_report.docx+jeremy+evans+vertical&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

The comment on this video suggests that "...he (Evans) broke Dwight Howards(and the NBA) record for standing and running vertical jump." (Can't confirm that myself. Don't know the numbers.)

I am pretty sure that Dwight Howard's verts were never close to the records. I remember Antiono McDyess and Shawn Kemp having ridiculous numbers. Kemp in particular I remember something like a 45" max vertical.
