What has David Locke so upset?

They both made some good points, Locke was prepared, Mahoney wasn't as prepared, I have to agree with Locke for the most part though. The Jazz are an 8 seed playoff team, thats where their talent level is. Locke did try and explain some of the rational for what Corbin is doing, some of it made sense, some of it was forced.

Look, Locke basically used his podcast as a way to bash another media member. Most of us here agree with what Mahoney was trying to do and frankly, no one around here is doing that. Locke seemed like a gigantic prick on that podcast and he threw everyone in the organization (Players, FO, etc) under the bus just to try and prove that Corbin is competent. Yea, that is always nice. I like it when I get thrown under the bus, it endears me to that person even more.

Who got thrown under the bus? I listened to the whole thing yesterday and don't recall him doing anything like that. He said Jefferson can't play P&R D at all, Favors is pretty far behind offensively, Sap is not a go to guy ... All true obvious things. He was being a prick though, very confrontational.

The part about the Jazz having the worst starting 5 in every game they play.

Is that not accurate ? I wouldn't say the worst in every game, but its bottom 1/2 to bottom 1/3 for sure. Wasn't there an uprising recently because Locke wouldn't say negative things about the Jazz? Well he did yesterday, and they were all true. Well, probably not all, but almost all of them.

If the jazz do have the worst starting five against every team they play (charlotte, new Orleans, Detroit, philly, Toronto, Washington, Cleveland, Orlando, Portland, Minnesota, phoenix, sacramento) then isn't locke throwing KOC under the bus since he was the one who assembled the worst staring 5 in the league?
Or is it in fact corbins fault for continueing to play the worst starting five in the league for so long?

They are one of the deepest teams in the league though, can't have your cake and eat it too. They aren't the worst but they are probably around the 20th best starting 5 or so. Replacing a few people in and out of the starting 5 wouldn't make them significantly better IMO. Just different, not better, probably not worse either.

I can't read this site anymore. Every ****ing thing is Coach Corbin's or the managements fault, but it's the players on the floor who we expect to perform. This site has been rendered useless by Clutchfans trolls and ****ing retarded Jazz fans. I'm not even sure why I bother to post here or read this garbage site anymore. <sigh>

David Locke teaching Jazzfanz about basketball is akin to Joseph Stiglitz teaching Rush Limbaugh listeners about economics. It's just too complex.

You don't know that anyone who isn't a blind homer on the youngins must throw them under the bus to support Corbin not playing them. We are *haters* yo.

So, what you are saying is that whether the Jazz win or lose, it is up to the players. Now, my question is this:

If your starting five is continually outplayed by your bench, what would the logical thing to do be?

Why hasn't Corbin done that?

If our starting 5 sucks so badly, why isn't anyone doing ANYTHING to try to improve the situation?

The answer to those questions will tell you why everyone is so mad at Corbin and the FO.

Locke, Stiglitz, lol

One of your best evar

Dude, I'm not a professional anthropologist but I know so much more about the subject than these idiot professors in their ivory towers who make airtight cases that I disagree with on an emotional level.

You have some logic there till you get to the last 3 words.

bottom line ... even the national media can see our coach sucks... and we can all see that KOC brings in raw talent ... if you fail to see these two things then you havn't been watching or going to the Jazz games cause it's very obvious

Yes we do bring in raw talent and they leave here a honed talent. There has to be something there and I am inclined to nod my head towards Corbin for that. However I am extrmemely frustrated with his rotations, in game adjustments and allocation of playing time.

Not sure what you're driving at here.

If you have been totally serious in your claim that there is no legitimate stance against Corbin, and if you don't see where Locke gets bent over a barrel but Mahoney doesn't come prepared/willing to spank him -- in other words, if you aren't trolling me -- then I'm surprised.

Why would I ever say there's no legitimate stance against anything when there always is? There are good arguments and there are silly arguments, and then there are hyper-emotional spastic ones that happen to dominate this site at the time being. For crying out loud, we still have green and others parroting the bench the better players and ignore locker room mutiny nonsense.

David Locke effectively tore down the Corbin-don't-know-nuthin-and-is-in-over-his-head nonsense. He also killed Mahony's Jazz should tank like the Warriors nonsense.

Mahony's strong point was in Corbin's inability to run a more dynamic offense, even though he admitted it would have resulted in more losses this season & that Corbin has done a great job bringing along Hayward, etc. to do some more things that Corbin wasn't able to do with this group (i.e. Corbin IS building for the future). Mahony also hit the nail on the head when he basically said the Jazz need more players like Denver has -- dynamic scorers with athletic ability. He said the Jazz don't have that, which is supporting what Corbin did while saying otherwise.

Mahony's appeal was nothing short of populism.

Oh, and if you want a good critique of a Corbin decision then go see my latest playbook entries.

Did you guys like the part where Locke uses a 48 minute block of time when the c4 were on the floor together as proof they shouldn't be?
Cmon fellas, let's gets specific about that ****show and have some laughs.

I thought Mahony was spot on with his criticism of Ty and the Jazz. What really made me want to puck was the reaction to all the homer 1280 crew. They stood up for how great a job Ty has done this year and how he just wanted to win. (hurl) If I hear one more time how Ty had to take over the team after Jerry left and how the Jazz traded their best player two weeks latter and there was a lock-out the next year and poor Ty couldn't implement his system last year, I'm gonna lose it. Randy Rigby and KOC get on 1280 and talk about what a great job Ty has done. Do they think we are idiots and only they can see the brilliance in Ty's moves? The sad fact is that the Jazz are a small market team. They will never fire Ty because they may have to pay more for another coach or have to pay two coaches at one time. Ty could smother Alec Burks with a pillow and the Jazz wouldn't do a thing. He's the safest coach in the league. This season has been a waste of time and energy.

Mahoney had three good points that he didn't drive home in the podcast (I wonder why?):
1. There are obviously player combinations that have worked, otherwise the jazz wouldn't be where they are, but what are they? Why are they one the floor so few minutes?
2. If players like Corey Brewer can work in Denver as drive-and-dish guys, then maybe Utah isn't using players like Burks effectively? The Utah offense has been Meh, period.
3. Defensive schemes aren't playing to the individual players' strengths.

^ all point to Corbin. And, that list is far from exhaustive.
