what identity do you want the jazz to have?

take a look at Orlando and they are developing a team based on defense, Philly on injuries, ok joking but what identity will the jazz have? right now youth. youth won't win a championship. a lot will be what Snyder brings to the team. I don't really see an identity in these players.

Burke - love his clutch game. I would really like to see more leadership out of him. see him embrace Utah. defense is not his calling card. I really want to see him run the team. a/to ratio needs to be better.

burks - love the guy but who is he. is he a super sub a good scorer or is he just a slasher. I want to see a mid-range game from him. I also want to see better defense. he should be able to. I don't see leadership in him either

exum - is a dark horse and I really want to see what he brings. right now it seems redundant to burks.

Hayward - is the multimillion dollar man. he is not a leader either. average defender maybe a little above. what is Hayward's identity? is it secret? he is a do it all but we all know he is not a main option but could he be part of a big 3?

hood - we have shooting but lets hope he can remain consistent. doesn't seem committed on defense. is the sf of the future or just a good to average floor space roll player.

favors - identity is defense but he is not getting much help from the supporting cast. he needs a go-to move. he is my biggest hope for some form of identity but his personality does warrant making changes in others.

kanter - is a great low post scorer but what is his identity. I would love to see some lambier (sp) in him. some dirty some toughness. I also want him stepping out to nail a 3 every now and again. he doesn't have to be a great defender just nasty.

Gobert - is a wait and see but he seems to have a great work ethic. I like players that are erasers. they remove players mistakes. makes players play with more confident. makes shooting better also knowing you have a guy to put the miss back in.

Felix and booker are both very good defenders.


identity I want to see is the jazz to play like a well oiled machine.

Sounds like Quin wants thier identity to be a team that bases everything off the pass game.


I feel like I like gobert more and more every day.
He had the attitude, personality, and work ethic that I wish all of our guys had
 
Along with that I want them to be tough and aggressive. A team that isn't intimidated and will step on your throat in a game.
 
I want the team to be unselfish (no "hero ball") and to make smart decisions. Those were probably the two things that frustrated me the most last season.

Defensively I'll go with tough and scrappy. Don't give up the easy basket, fight for every loose ball, and fight to CREATE lose balls.

Burke, as good as he is as a leader and as a clutch shooter, comes to mind here.
 
That all the players are pretty even. That no one player has any more power than another. That quin caps the cream for sake of the team.

A man can dream..

Burke playing Hero Ball led to a good portion of our meager amount of wins, so much so that some here hate him permanently for it. I suspect a better (or more experienced) cast plus an actual offensive system will help a lot here.

Burke's assist to turnover is 13th best in the league with all but a handful ahead of him not actually handling the ball as much. You can have knocks against Trey, but turning over the rock isn't one of them.
 
Not sure but I remember seeing that he had the best Ast/to ratio among all rookies.
 
I don't buy the Trey Burke as the leader.Trey Burke might give it his all on D but what happens if he's beaten by faster PG"s.Will all the blame be placed on Kanter again.Will all the losses be Kanter's fault when the breakdown happened with Burke and Burks.I think the whole start of the season begins with Burke .If he's physically outclassed.the Jazz will follow suit.
 
pass ball. spurs basketball style. gobert will be an energy booster off the bench. This will be an exciting season. Cinderella team of this year? who knows
 
My dream is to have 5 guys who can dribble, pass, shoot, rebound and play hard-nosed defense, all positions be damned.
 
I hope our identity is a winning team. I'm excited that the Jazz get to forge their identity. We are finally out of the shadow of Jerry Sloan and I'm optimistic that Quin will have the Jazz playing more exciting brand of basketball. Hopefully it will eventually give the Jazz a winning identity.
 
I want the team to be like George McFly, a gauky loser with some blemishes, who ultimately turns it around and shows an inner strength. My density has brought me to you.

I'm afraid we will get Frank Burns from Mash. An unlikable loser who only talks about money and Fort Wayne Indiana, but no one respects or likes.
 
Offense: Crisp, smart ball movement (and therefore minimal turnovers) and penetration from our wings to either draw defenders and therefore find the open man to hit the open shot (I'm looking at you Hayward) or to simply attack the rim for the easy basket or drawn foul. All five guys should get relatively equal touches so opponents can't focus on any one or two guys.

If we can do those things consistently, have minimal turnovers, have great passing to help find the open man, knock down the open shots that an NBA player should knock down, and attack the rim at a high rate, we should be a successful team. Over the long haul, very successful.



Defense: 110% effort from the players while learning and improving along the way on where to be and why and when, as well as accountability from the players and coaches. Challenge every shot.

If we can exert great effort, we should be able to be a good rebounding team, minimize seeing open men for the opponent, and challenge shots. Being held accountable from Quin and staff as well as the leaders of this team must occur and occur promptly though.
 
I would like to see the player who is playing the best on the floor. Not so ridged on the rotations that they cannot play the hot hand. I hope Snyder never feels that he has to play someone because they will whine or the size of their contract, etc.
 
Winning attitude is more important than anything. The Jazz coach must set his young players straight for that matter and get them back on their feet after the unpleasant experience with Corbin. I'm not talking about his success, or basketball IQ. I'm talking about how well or badly his attitude towards winning translated to the ego's of the young roster. I did not see anything good past 3 seasons. I just can only wish for Quin Snyder to erase the give up attitude off and make these guys believe that they can win any game, as they are now professional basketball players.

So my identity wish for the Jazz is a-pair-for-each-implant.


And a titanium armor for the area.
 
I like a lot of the responses here. One thing I'd like to add:

I think we have much better depth this year, and I want to see it get maximized. I want to see everybody competing hard for minutes. I'd like to see everybody held accountable on defense. On offense, I think accountability means either executing a quick pass or taking a shot from your spot; needs to happen fast. If you mess up, you get yanked for somebody itching for the minutes.
